FehmarnGermany

Unwind during your city trip to Fehmarn and enjoy the expansive beaches on the only Baltic Sea island in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, one of the sunniest regions in Germany with a mild yet bracing climate.

A mini-break to Fehmarn will take you to the third-largest German island as well as to the second-largest city in Schleswig-Holstein. In the year 2003, the island communities unified into the city of Fehmarn. Burg is the largest town on the island with 6,000 inhabitants and represents the economic and cultural centre. The picturesque old town with most houses built in Danish style, cosy cafés and many shops is perfect for a relaxed stroll during your city trip. To the north of Fehmarn, the small village of Puttgarden awaits. It is home to the famous ferry harbour which provides a direct connection to Denmark. In the south-west, you will find the village of Flügge with the impressive lighthouse dominating the landscape. Another popular destination is the commemorative stone for Jimi Hendrix’s last concert which took place here in 1970. The district Landkirchen is located in the centre of the island. The town’s St. Petri Church is the most significant landmark and was built in the 13th century. Restaurants and shops will welcome you during your city trip to Fehmarn as well. Only 2 miles to the south of the main town Burg, a mile-long white beach awaits, as does the tourist centre.

Another destination to visit here during your short trip is the Fehmarn Adventure Pool. You will be thrilled by the sea water wave pool, the adventure pool with a large water slide, by the whirlpool and the heated outside pool. The expansive wellness area is perfect for a little relaxation. Enjoy a vapour bath or visit the panoramic or outside sauna. Or you can indulge in a Cleopatra milk bath with subsequent massage to forget the stress of your every-day life.

While on your city trip, be sure not to miss the Sea Centre Fehmarn. An exhibition area of over 3,500 square yards provides much interesting information about sharks. Watch sand tiger sharks, nurse sharks and lemon sharks in action in a 3 million litre aquarium. Or enjoy the display of colours in the coral world with schools of coral fish.

Golf enthusiasts should plan a visit to the Golf Park Fehmarn. The club offers an 18-hole course as well as a short 9-hole course. The golf park is located in the midst of a picturesque landscape and offers a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea.

A special experience is a visit to Germany’s third largest Butterfly Park in Burg with more than 1,000 colourful tropical butterflies.

Nice hotel but breakfast needs improvement

"Our room was spacious and clean. We even had an outside area to relax. The bed was very soft. We were charged for a breakfast that we did not intend on buying.
