Kelpies Serviced Apartments in Falkirk was very conveniently located - just a couple of minutes walk from Falkirk Grahamston station and a half hour walk to our gig venue. However, the "apartment" was no more than a glorified bedsit and certainly nothing like the lovely photos on the website. It was no bigger than many hotel rooms and featured a wall mounted microwave, sink and mini fridge in one corner of the room. If I book an apartment, I expect to have a decent amount of space to move about in. Despite the booking saying the apartment would have a king size bed, it was a double bed crammed into a small space beside a sloping ceiling. I am not tall by any stretch of the imagination, but found myself having to stoop on more than 1 occasion. A very small table was also positioned below an area of sloping ceiling. All in all, I did not consider this value for money and would be unlikely to book here again.

They should not be called apartments
The woman I phoned about payment and checking in was very nice and friendly. It states on hotels.com that check in was 1pm-6pm so we arrived in Falkirk from the north east of Scotland for a 1pm check but was then told that check in is not till 3pm so we had to wait a few hours. Getting the key is easy as it is just a key in a key safe, although another rooms key is also in there so I had to come back downstairs and put it back into the key safe. The bed and the pillows were comfy. I’m not sure they should be called apartments considering it was just a bed in a room (like any other hotel room). I tried to put a drink into the fridge and decided to take it back out again as there was a horrible smell in the fridge. There was also a horrible smell coming from the drawer above the fridge. The glasses that were available to use were also quite stained and unclean. The bathroom was a good size and had a spacious shower. Also the towels were a good size. Personally do not think that the room was worth the price.

For what was supposed to be a 'Superior Apartment ' it turned out to be a small cramped room with a bathroom that hadn't been cleaned.

James, you did not book a 'Superior Apartment' and this is not one of our room types. You booked a 'Classic Studio' which are the smallest of our room types. The room & bathroom was cleaned by a professional cleaning company to all covid 19 standards prior to your arrival. Many Thanks Kelpies Serviced Apartments

Please be aware, these are not appartments! At best its a small, very small budget hotel room with a fridge & microwave. The sink is so small its unusable & the tap was very loose. There is nowhere to dry your towels, so still damp in the morning. No proper chair so you have to sit on the bed. I was in Falkirk on essential work so had to stay however i would not stay hear again & I think Hoyels.com should review its inclusion on their website.

Thank you for your feedback. You booked our standard double room so perhaps if you felt the room was too small booking a deluxe room which is larger than a standard room would enable you to have more space if required. To say the room only has a sink microwave and fridge is untrue. The room has a full kitchenette complete with shelving for cutlery/crockery & utensils, and a preparation area for guests to use to prepare meals. As you can appreciate a ‘hotel room’ does not have these facilities. We are sorry you felt the sink was ‘unusable’ we have had no issues from any previous guests regarding this however will of course take your comment on board. There is a ‘proper chair’ in the room and also a small desk so guests can use this to have their dinner/do some work or whatever their needs are to enable them to not have to sit on their bed. We thank you again for your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back to our apartments in the future!

They had great links with the surrounding town and the next door merchants seemed to be part and parcel of the experience

Not what most travellers would call an apartment
This accommodation is definately not an apartment but a not very spacious bedroom with only furniture a king bed and small bedside table plus a tiny sink with a small microwave in a small built in cupboard with no workspace.and ensuite bathroom. Stayed 2 nights but room was not serviced. Really good central position, but no parking except local which is expensive. Also be prepared to haul your luggage up a steep winding staircase. On the up side clean and modern.

We are disspointed to hear you felt the room to be small- all of our photographs show exactly how large our apartments are and all descriptions explain exactly what facilities they offer. There is a workspace next to the sink. Rooms are not serviced daily as we are not a hotel who may service rooms daily however if you were looking for fresh towels for example this is something we are able to provide if you had requested this. Free local parking is available at a location nearby. We are unsure as to where you parked that you found it expensive however if you had asked/messaged a member of staff we would have been happy to help and let you know where the free parking was situated. There is also on street parking straight across from the apartments which is free after 3pm. As explained our upper floors are accessible by stairs only as we are situated in a listed building. If you were looking for a room on a lower floor and had requested this we could have tried our best to accommodate your request. However we are delighted that you found the rooms clean and modern.
