This spectacular 3 bedroom/3 bathroom, pet friendly home is on heavily wooded property with fabulous views of the mountains in the distance. In addition to enjoying the beautiful outdoor area and elevated wrap-around deck, there is nothing like sinking into the private hot tub for a long, hot soak after a day of Colorado outdoor adventuring. Step through the door of Alpenhaus and into the quintessential Colorado Mountain Cabin. The ground floor offers a cozy Entertainment Room with comfortable seating around a Smart TV that is mounted over a roaring gas fireplace. Enjoy walkout access to the secluded hot tub for an evening soak under the stars. Just beyond the Entertainment Room is a plush and cozy Queen Bed fitted with our comfortable cotton bed linens and the adjacent Ground Floor Bathroom offers a standard pedestal sink, toilet and a bathtub/shower combo. Walk up the stairs to the Great Room where you can enjoy high vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling views of the surrounding woodlands and distant peaks. The spacious Living Area has comfortable leather couches centered around a wood-burning fireplace and majestic stone hearth all open to the Dining Area and the bright and cheerful Kitchen. The Dining space has a large table with comfortable seating for 6, a sideboard and walkout access to the propane BBQ grill. The well appointed Kitchen has custom cabinets and countertops, numerous cooking gadgets and high-top seating for 2 at the bar - the perfect place for whipping up your family's favorite meal! Just beyond the Kitchen, the Mid-Level Bedroom offers large windows, a Queen bed, a corner Twin and a large storage closet. The Mid-Level Central Bathroom features a standard vanity, toilet, corner shower and full size washer and dryer available for guest use - So no need to waste precious vacation time at the laundromat in town! Up to the top floor open Loft where there is a cozy reading nook, a set of Twin Bunk Beds with a small corner television and the Top Floor Bathroom with a standard vanity, toilet and a bathtub/shower combo - where you choose to start your day with a quick refreshing rinse or sink in for a long soak after a long day on the slopes. The Lofts Master Bedroom has large windows, a comfortable King size bed fitted with our cozy cotton bed linens and a large storage closet. The spacious, elevated, wrap-around deck space is ideal for summer evenings lounging under the stars. Comfortable deck furniture around a gas fire pit provides all the mountain ambiance you could desire for your Colorado retreat. Valley of the Sun is home to a variety of wildlife and this spectacular location affords opportunities to observe Elk, Deer and Foxes (just to name a few!) right on the property. Additionally, the wetland area located less than 1 mile from the home is one of the few areas where you may be able to see Moose in their natural habitat. The driveway is plowed in the winter and the roadways are maintained by the county, but 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED from November through May due to the frequent snow storms in this area. Park County is an activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, it's a great "Base Camp!" If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. Activities include skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing, snow-shoeing, horseback riding (winter too!), ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, mine exploration, canoeing, kayaking, and much much more. \* FISHING ... There’s a lot of room for everyone to enjoy, both inside and outside, and even the dog found adventure exploring the two acres with the kids. This mountain gem is secluded and quiet with tons of privacy which is really nice when you’re using the outdoor hot tub. Needless to say, we’re planning to stay here again for a 3rd time next year. We wanted a house away from town where our kids and dogs could just play in the snow. This house was PERFECT for that! We have an suv with 4 wheel drive and didn’t have any trouble getting in and out of the property. The house is spacious, clean, easy to heat…I will say previous reviews are accurate: there were 5 towels in the entire house. If you say you can host 10 people, there should be AT LEAST that many towels. Same for pots and pans in the kitchen. We cooked every meal for a week at the house and can comfortably say the pot/pan/knife situation makes it difficult to cook for a group. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this property to anyone looking for.a quiet getaway! Also the town of FairPlay is lovely. Thank you for an awesome week! ##### Michelle P. The photos do not do it justice. Its secluded, quiet, incredible views, spacious, etc etc. Super dog friendly! We were able to bring 3 of our very good dogs. They even have an extra kennel if you need it. The water does have a bit of a sulfur smell but thats just due to the area its in. Day was spent hiking Pika Trail and picnicking by the river. Loved the ability to go in the hot tub after putting the kids to bed, with incredible views of the stars. Our visit was seamless and felt like a true retreat from daily life. Very nice cabin with great views. Maintenance is lacking. Third floor lighting and fan inoperable in bunk room, also in stove vent hood as well as a bulb in the dining chandelier. Also, kept smelling exhaust fumes from, I guess, the water heater and furnace which are piped together on the ground floor before disappearing into the ceiling. Vented the house twice by way of windows and doors, but smell kept coming back. Third floor sink drains slow (partially clogged). Mentioned all to property management who just kept saying they'd pass it to their team but heard crickets about the fumes. Should be noted that the CO detectors on all floors remained silent, but the smell still gave us headaches. Lastly, cleanliness was lacking. Floors unswept/vacuumed as evident by animal hair and popcorn on rugs. Found a lift ticket brochure in the nightstand from 2010-2011 season, Legos under the ottoman, and various trash and personal items under a bed. I wasn't looking for anything mentioned but my wife has a tendency to drop everything and Murphy's law dictates it's gonna end up under something which it did. Lastly, the cleaning fee was 280 which was high considering the above and the fact we were advised to remove all trash, start laundry and the dishwasher, and clean the fireplace...all of which would never be the case at a hotel or resort. I would have rated this poor, but the location and views precluded it. ##### James C. Our family loved our stay here and appreciate the hospitality from the Owner for renting so others can enjoy! A couple useful notes about our stay….The house is definitely remote (about 15 min from nearest town) which we were looking for but also very conveniently located within an hour of all the outdoor activities for short day trips. As noted in other reviews, the mountain roads are minimally maintained and very rough as expected for a remote setup, but useful information when planning vehicles. We found the road to the north was better to travel on. It is also at a high elevation so consider taking precautions for altitude sickness if that’s something your affected by. We did have an issue with the hot tub while staying there but the management company was very responsive and easy to get ahold of, as well as worked around our schedule to take care of the issue. The response is more important to us than the issue as you can’t control when those things happen, and they were very accommodating. The dryer was a little loud and took a while to dry as well (2 cycles)…we reported this to the maintenance company but didn’t ask them to fix while we were there because it didn’t bother us but thought they might want to know for maintenance. I’m sure they will take care of it quickly like they did with the hot tub. Overall great experience from our perspective and would highly recommend to others! ##### Lucas F. Very clean and spectacular views of the mountains. It would have been better if camp fire was allowable as we brought smores and always tell stories around a camp fire. We did use the indoor wood burning fireplace which was nice and there was plenty of wood. Plenty of towels provided and everyone loved the hot tub. A few things renters should be warned about - the road leading up to the cabin (Venture Rd) that GPS defaults to, is a very steep and slippery rd equivalent to a ski hill in the winter. Although warned in the email, it was the last sentence in the email but not stating how slippery and dangerous it is. Not everyone reads word to word and as an important safety precaution it should be warned at the beginning of the email. We unfortunately did take this road and got stuck. We had to call a tow to get us out of the ditch. Lastly the elevation is 10,000 ft. We could have researched this via Google but as our first time traveling to Colorado, we didn't expect it to be very hard on our bodies (hard to breathe, nauseous, light headed, leg aches, poor appetite). We loved this property! The house is large, light, airy with huge windows in the great room overlooking the forest and the mountain view with comfortable furniture throughout. It was immaculately clean and well cared for. The huge deck is a wonderful place to perch and listen to the nature sounds and enjoy the view. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen very well stocked with any cooking utensils and pans needed (we did not find the issues earlier reviews mention). There were plenty of extra supplies (extra paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper). The house is secluded (can’t see any other neighbors), quiet and peaceful. The property management company was great; very responsive and helpful with any questions before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again. We did not use the hot tub, grill or fireplace so cannot comment on those features. A few things to note: 1\. The last section of road up to the home is no joke. The listing requires a 4 WD vehicle in winter though we came in August and one section is both steep and rocky. We used a route the opposite way that’s smoother when going on excursions (the bonus was it goes by a lake area where we saw moose daily). 2\. The downstairs King bedroom is not enclosed. There is a moveable screen that separates the bed from the sitting/TV area. 3\. Bring soap for the shower.
