Just off Mackenzie's famous Starlight Highway, in the township of Fairlie, Lucky Star Cottage is an easy 30 minute drive from Lake Tekapo (where the Mt. John Observatory is located.). Stargaze through roof windows from the comfort of your own cozy bed.

The Space:

Lucky Star Cottage is a purpose-built, self-contained, stargazing cottage. Well fenced with secure off-street parking, a small garden containing a double hammock and alfresco dining area, the cottage is designed for peaceful privacy all within easy walking distance of local amenities.
Only 2.5 hours from Christchurch Airport, halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown - Lucky Star Cottage is a perfect place for your first or last luxurious night in South Island. Also perfect for a couple's romantic weekend. There's even space for your boat if you are keen on watersports - with Lakes Tekapo, Opuha, Pukaki and Alexandrina close by.

We had a lovely one night stay on our trip further south. Cool little cabin and so good it accommodates pets. Sky lights in the bedroom are a great addition.

Brilliant bolthole

We stayed in Fairlie as a mid-way break between destinations and we’re so pleased we did. Lucky star cottage is a delight, a tiny oasis in a lovely private garden. The cottage was spotless and comfortable and we even had a wee welcome parcel of lollies, eggs and milk.-even the dog received a treat. We felt at home straightaway!
