Sofia's house in Thiva

Sofia's house in Thiva

8/10 Good
"Less than 1km close to restaurant and convenient & grocery stores and easy access to major highway. A little bit noisy with heavy traffic including big trucks passing by. We have informed the owner of our late arrival (midnight) but the entry code to the property was wrong and we waited quite some time until the house keeper let us in."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Evangelistria?
The best area to stay in Evangelistria is the main town, particularly around the harbour and the streets leading up to the Church of Panagia Evangelistria.

This central area is the heart of Evangelistria's activity. It's very walkable, with narrow, winding streets lined with traditional Cycladic architecture, small shops, and tavernas. The harbour promenade is a focal point, offering views of the Aegean Sea and bustling with life, especially in the evenings. The iconic Church of Panagia Evangelistria, a significant pilgrimage site, sits prominently on a hill overlooking the town.

Couples looking for a relaxing and convenient stay will find this area ideal. You'll be within easy reach of the island's best restaurants, boutique shopping, and cultural sites. Strolling hand-in-hand along the waterfront or exploring the charming backstreets can be a truly enjoyable experience.

For solo travellers, staying in the main town offers excellent access to public transport for exploring other parts of the island, and the central location means you're never far from a cafe or a shop.
When is the best time to go to Evangelistria?
The best time to go to Evangelistria is during the shoulder seasons, specifically late April to early June or September to October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm but not excessively hot temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region without the peak summer crowds. You'll find it easier to book accommodations and enjoy a more relaxed experience at popular sites.

For those who enjoy swimming and sunbathing, July and August are also good options, though you should expect higher temperatures and more visitors.
