Carter House Inns provides you with premier hotel accommodations when staying in California’s beautiful Humboldt County. Located in the Historic District of Old Town Eureka, guests have the choice of staying in any of our five luxurious Victorian buildings. Many find that our spaces set an indulgent tone for a visit to nearby redwood groves, rugged Pacific beaches and the historic sites of Northern California’s Redwood Coast.
The lovely cottage home is reminiscent of another time while filled with modern amenities and art. Also enjoy our spacious hotel lobby with leather seating and cozy fireplace while you have a nightcap from our beautiful and well-stocked bar. Additionally, we offer one of only 100 Grand-Award Winning wine lists in the world from which to make a selection.
The front desk is open from 7am to 8pm daily for arrivals and just to answer questions and give local advice. Late arrivals can be accommodated by contacting us for arrival instructions. Should there be any kind of emergency, we have someone on call 24/7.
The properties are located at the north end of Old Town in the small-city atmosphere of Eureka, just two blocks from the marina and one block from the Carson Mansion, the most photographed house in America. Old Town is filled with gingerbread-like Victorian homes, boutique shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and museums such as our Humboldt Bay Maritime Museum. In addition, there are water sports, brew pubs, wine tasting rooms, comedy clubs, local live theater and the Eureka Symphony. Oh, and don’t forget to tour our dozens of building murals, created by local artists, throughout all of Old Town.
