Walk to Downtown Mystic Premiere Carriage House Spacious Loft Apt—Very Private

"First the positives - The property was as advertised, very clean, and located within a 20 minute walk to downtown Mystic. However we had a very difficult time with the checkin process. I stay at VRBO properties several times a year and have never written a critical comment, but the difficulty we had checking in needs to be addressed.The pre-check in communications with the owner/manager were very good. However on the day we arrived we could not get a response despite updating our ETA early that day. We waited for an hour an 40 minutes and while VRBO was processing our refund the manager finally contacted us. She was apologetic but the excuses ranged from stuck in traffic, the wave noise on the beach was too loud to hear her phone, she was taking care of a WWII veteran... Once we checked in she was very responsive throughout our stay.The manager says she insists on being present to greet her guests and show them the property. I appreciate that but I highly recommend she set up an alternate process (lock box, digital lock, etc.) to allow her guests access when she can't be present. Based on her stellar review history I assume we just caught her on a bad day. However we planned a brief two night visit and the time spent parked in her driveway delayed out plans. I still recommend the property, but you should ensure you will be granted prompt access when you arrive."

"This was our second stay at this property and it worked out great! It is very clean and has great amenities- washer and dryer, fully stocked kitchens for cooking, outdoor grills, huge outdoor picnic table with umbrella, solo fire pit with wood provided, beach chairs and towels. Our group was multi generational and we loved the available bikes, paddle boards and kayaks. The 3 separate living spaces worked great for us and allows some to stay up late, sleep in late or nap without disturbing everyone. We love the nearby beaches and parks and a short ride/drive to Mystic. Our only challenge were mosquitoes when we sat out after dark at the fire but the Host had nothing to do with that! The Host was accommodating and easy to work with. Our group has great memories of our week and hope to return again."

"We had an absolutely wonderful weekend getaway! The cottage was impeccably clean and cozy. It was perfectly appointed with modern amenities, yet it still retained its classic coastal charm. Waking up to breathtaking views of the water right from our room was the highlight of the trip. The innkeepers were incredibly accommodating. A huge bonus for us was the kayaks on the property. The availability of clean lifejackets was a plus. We can’t wait to go back and relax."
