"Convenient and economical hotel in Palaiseau"
We were looking for an hotel in Palaiseau in order to visit relatives living in the town, and Le Relais is one of the very few hotels there. It is easy to find, with plenty of free parking (though it does get very busy on weekdays because of the adjacent business estate). The hotel looks similar to a block of apartments, and the outside looks a bit tired and in need of renovation/painting. Internally it is very functional and practical, with basic vending machines, tables, chairs etc. There is no carpeting in the corridors, and smells of cleaning fluids and cooking. Nevertheless, it is clean, the lift works, and the staff are very helpful. The rooms are basic but have hot plates, large fridge, crockery/cutlery and a microwave. The wifi works very well (at least it did in our room). The hot water is plentiful and the toilet/bathroom is clean, if not very large. Unfortunately, the fan in the bathroom in our room did not work, there was a small water leak in the ceiling, and the radiator was not working, so the bed felt damp the first night. Water dripped off the window onto the floor, hence our score for room comfort was disappointing. Despite the problems, we would use the hotel again. Check in and check out were quick and easy, and items such as extra towels, cups etc were provided promptly on request. We did not use any of the other facilities in the hotel, as we left early in the mornings, and returned late in the evenings. The TV has only basic French channels.
