We booked the Fortune Hotel to use as a base whilst we were attending a wedding near Halifax. The hotel is in an ideal location just off the M62. In fact the motorway runs right alongside the hotel however don't let that put you off because you wouldn't know due to the excellent job they have done at the hotel to eradicate the noise. The staff are some of the friendliest we have encountered and they couldn't do enough for us. They are a credit to the hotel. Our room was clean, tidy and contained...

We arrived to stay overnight at this very well presented hotel lovely and comfortable accommodation with a bar facility and 24 hr reception , Breakfast was served professionally and with quality food. Bonus for my family is the hotel is situated close by to our relatives in ELLAND ,HALIFAX ,so we will be staying again very soon , Hotel staff keep up the good work Very enjoyable stay

This great hotel just 10 mins walk from the town centre is the best I have stayed in for the price. Staff were very polite and helpful. The single bedroom, though small, had all one could hope for, clean and well stocked, even little biscuits as a welcome. The shower was the best I have ever used in a hotel or guest house. I stayed just one night and did not take in the breakfast, but dining area seemed well appointed.

Pleasant one night stay. Good food, helpful staff. Ideal location for visiting Holmfirth town and the vineyard.

I was hoping that this hotel was out of the town and was a little concerned when I saw the location was in the suburbs of Halifax however was pleasantly surprised at the peace and lack of noise both traffic and neighbourly. It was the best night's sleep i've had in a hotel lovely comfy bed and the cleanliness 10 out of 10. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Food very good . I really couldn't fault this hotel.

Brilliant food! Bring an empty stomach if you want to stand any chance of finishing the steak and ale pie!

Location..it has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. ( need a car) Rooms are very comfortable, tea /kettle etc. Stairs are a little steep. staff are lovely ,had a very pleasant stay. We arrived Saturday lunch time, they had a party of 40 in, but fitted us in and it was delicious! staff attentive and it arrived quickly so all good, so I am very sad ( and surprised ) to say breakfast was poor ! we didn't opt for the buffet and cooked ,rather just the cooked, it took ages to appear...

Ashley was the best host. Very professional. We would definitely recommend Ashley and his lovely assistant Lisa, very accommodating and nothing too much trouble. We shall be staying there again. The breakfast is to die for, locally sourced and delicious. You could not ask for more it was all provided and presented with love. Everything about this hotel was 5*, the staff, the location and attention to detail. Go on give it a go, you will not regret it. Thanks Ashley, Lisa and not forgetting...
