"We get to the hotel and greet the receptionist and say we have a reservation and she starts speaking in german and say we don't have a reservation (i think) in a very angry way, and when i didn't understand she got even angrier and gesticulates at us, and then guy shows up that speaks good enough english and we ask what's wrong and he says nothing and we get our key. If I hadn't already paid for the room i would just have left. The angry receptionist really caught us by surprise, we have been...

"We stayed one night at the Hotel Pommernland having flown in to the nearby Anklam airfield. As it was the Ascention weekend there were no taxis available so the hotel manager Eric kindly gave us a lift into town to a greek restaurant. Hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms were absolutely fine. My only criticism is that there was only 1 feather pillow supplied which was way too soft, my head sunk straight through it. Breakfast was OK."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Eichhorst?
The best area to stay in Eichhorst is directly within the village centre, particularly around Dorfstraße, for its easy access to local amenities and the expansive nature surrounding it.

Eichhorst itself is a small, tranquil village, and its centre along Dorfstraße offers a limited but considered selection of guesthouses and holiday flats. This main street provides direct access to the village's few shops and eateries, and it's where you'll find the local church, a central landmark. The village is located on the western bank of the Werbellinsee, and many accommodations here offer views or direct access to the lake.

For couples seeking a quiet retreat with a focus on nature and relaxation, staying in the village centre is ideal. You'll be within easy reach of walking and cycling paths that lead directly into the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. The Werbellinsee offers opportunities for boating and swimming, making it superb for those who enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful setting.

Solo travellers looking for a serene escape can also find Eichhorst's village centre to be a good fit. The relaxed pace of life and the abundance of natural beauty provide a superb backdrop for contemplation or active outdoor pursuits.
When is the best time to go to Eichhorst?
The best time to visit Eichhorst is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally warm and pleasant.

During this period, you can expect average daily temperatures to range from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and exploring the surrounding nature reserves. The longer daylight hours also mean more time to enjoy the scenic landscapes and local attractions.

For those who enjoy water-based activities, July and August are particularly good, as the lakes are warm enough for swimming and boating. The region often hosts local festivals and events during these months, offering a chance to experience the local culture.

If you prefer slightly cooler weather and fewer crowds, May, June, and September are excellent choices. The landscape is lush in spring, and the autumn colours in September are beautiful.
