The staff were great and the room was clean. However, there was no handsoap; only 30mins free Wi-Fi- not acceptable in 2026; the heating was not on when i got into the room on a very cold day. I had to activate it using the QR code on my mobile.
The room and staff were all completely fine, especially for such a cheap stay! However one thing to say is there was a lot of noise from building/construction going on early in the morning right outside our window (I know this isn't exactly the hotels fault - it was just a bit annoying).
The staff were very courteous and friendly. The room was lovely and clean and everything we needed. I, would recommend staying in a Travel Lodge again. Thank you very much.
Very central location and easily walkable to all the areas of Edinburgh. Key card entry for late night entry and very friendly staff. Only downside is the 30 min WiFi limit without paying for an upgrade and the tea and coffee was a bit limited with no sugar in the room. But was a quiet stay and big comfy bed so good for a cheapish central stay.
Friendly staff. Average travel lodge hotel. Convenient location. Very secured.

Really nice and convenient place to stay, it’s a small Travelodge so they offer breakfast boxes but plenty of places to choose around the area.
The road is busy but it was convenient to get Ubers, I had a few issues with my key card but the staff were super helpful and understanding.
Overall it’s good for a short stay, and if there are issues they do get resolved so it’s nothing to stray away from.
We loved this property. It is so central and in excellent location and rooms are huge. Great dining and shopping and its a walkable or short drive to Princess Street and Royal Mile. The paid wifi is bit annoying but overlooked over the fantastic benefits.
Really good welcome on arrival and nice room. Good size bed and bathroom and extra towels and pillows available. Clean and comfortable. Always have a good experience with travelodge.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is in a good location but very basic even for a travel lodge.. no iron or hairdryer in room, bathroom needed some TLC.
Absolutely brilliant location, just behind Princes Street on a much quieter road. Loads of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Loads of shops within walking distance. All transport options within walking distance. Bed was comfy, room was clean. Staff were incredible. We did have to ask to change room as the bed was broken (a loose slat underneath made the mattress very uneven) but we were given a new room immediately so no big issue.
Overall a very nice stay and we would absolutely use this hotel again.
Very convenient , walkable with TON of shopping, entertainment, public transit, proximity to old town. Great overall. While using public transit - purchase tickets, very highly controlled.
You know what you're getting with a travel lodge and this didn't disappoint. Very clean and comfortable. Had a room at the back of the hotel and was woken at 5 am most mornings by what sounded like bins being wheeled around. The shower curtain did nothing to stop the bathroom floor being soaked and we had to dry it with our towels.
All that said I would stay there again
Very good location 5 minutes walk from St Andrews Square, 10 minutes from Waverley station and 15 - 20 to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle.
Recently refurbished so in very good condition. Really handy additions like usb charging sockets.
Family room was a good size and had all we needed with tea and coffee and a TV in the room.
Bathroom was clean, plenty of towels, hand wash and bath and shower gel in the bathroom.
A little noise both from outside and within but nothing excessive that bothered us.
A very pleasant stay, staff friendly which made for a very enjoyable trip.

This is a no frills, central Edinburgh bed for the night. No more, no less. There's no bar or restaurant so it's literally your room so it's rather soulless. The rooms are fine, not everything works but it's comfortable. There is some early morning noise if your room backs onto the back alley as the recycling from nearby bars is carted noisily away. That said, there are lots of great places to eat, drink or buy groceries within 5 minutes walk. Reception staff are friendly and you can top up on tea / coffee for nothing. Fine for what it is.

Lucky for good staff!
Travelodge Edinburgh was fortunate to have great staff checking us in. She was very helpful offering recommendations and was able to accomodate us 30 minutes before checkin which was great given we had been up since 4am. Sadly everything else other than location let us down. Halls and doorways made it difficult to move to your room with luggage and the room was very small. Room was hot and when windows were open it was noisy from nearby bars, which admittedly is not the fault of the hotel nor is the smell of nearby takeaway food. These things could have been forgotten but for the additional let down of no free wifi, which is not acceptable these days..even backpacker hostels have free wifi! I recommend a taxi to and from hotel as they don’t seem to get parking tickets, we stopped out the front of hotel just to load our luggage into the car which took less than 5 minutes and got a parking ticket even though we were with the car! Thankfully we were excused and given a warning. Even as a budget hotel it is not cheap and needs to do better, we are returning to Edinburgh in a week and staying elsewhere.
The toilet smelled of pee the entire time we were there. The front desk clerk was not very friendly- I had an extremely small duffel bag and was a couple hours early for check in so I asked him to kindly store the bag for me. Instead of assisting me with this he refused to hold this little bag, stating there was no space and instead sent me three blocks down the street to a bus stop to store that little bag. I had a limited time there and felt he was being difficult for no reason. To make matters worse, I had my young son with me and had to drag him down to the station with me. This whole ordeal really put me in a bad mood on our very first day visiting Scotland. To make matters worse, I might have missed the fine print stating that there was no air conditioning in the room so we had to open all the windows and they gave us this tiny, dusty, dirty fan to help circulate air in the room. It was a hot night and we didn’t sleep very well… and who knows how many insects might have crawled into the room overnight as well.
