This is a wonderful, spacious, traditional seaside townhouse, built at a time when wealthy Edinburgh families also bought a house by the sea in order to cool off on those hot summer days. Laid out over 3 floors, the wide staircases are a feature, particularly the winding staircase between the first and second floors (note; they're a bit too wide for standard stair gates, so may not be ideal for young children). The Living Room is positioned on the first floor, as was the norm for the time, with 3 large windows that let the light stream in. From the top floor there are views over the roof tops to Arthur's Seat from the front and across the Firth of Forth to Fife at the rear. The house offers 4 bedrooms, Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Family Bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, a WC on each floor, full gas central heating, high pressure hot water system, Primary Bedroom with ensuite, WiFi, Smart TV, travel cot, high chair, iron and ironing board, hair dryers, linen and towels. Portobello provides a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh, but all of the iconic sites in Edinburgh are only a quick bus ride away. The only mark-down is on the ‘child-friendly’ question which Patrick answers in the description of the property so on your own head be it! The stairs not suitable for stair gates would be the only issue with smallies - otherwise a great spot near the beachfront with the kids. Lovely home close to grocery stores, local shops, the beach and the bus stop. It fit our needs perfectly. We stayed with 8 people total; young kids, teens and adults.
