Good location - guest comfort could be better
First the positives - this apartment is in a great location. Just a short walk one way to Holyrood palace and red city bus stops and a short walk another way to non tourist bakeries and restaurants (we loved Safari). Also, there is free parking which is hard to find in Edinburgh. The apartment is spacious, three bedrooms is a great feature. Check in was also smooth and easy.
What needs to be better - the owner obviously actively lives there as all of her belongings are stacked all over the apartment giving it a cluttered feel, you definitely feel like you are intruding in someone’s home. There isn’t a place to put your suitcase or belongings in any of the rooms; there are even bins of stuff on top of the full clothing cabinet in the main bedroom and shoes on a shelf when you enter the apartment. I could see this out of an Airbnb property but not one run through Hotels.com. We often rent apartments when we travel and I’ve never seen so many personal belongings in one. There is a sign when you enter asking to remove shoes however be aware of the nails sticking up out of the old wooden floors (particularly one from the hall to the sitting room area....my son caught this one with his bare foot). Also the owner is obviously renovating the bathroom which is good but the rigged shower curtain which sticks to your whole body in the 1.5’ of space you have to shower in leaves you claustrophobic and wanting to get out of there quickly.
