We stayed overnight and ate in the restaurant. All rather hit & miss. Room was clean & comfortable. The problem was it was poorly ventilated & very stuffy with no air con - a fan helped but it was still difficult to sleep. Not helped by being unable to turn off the bathroom light - I guess it used a motion sensor but it was a good 10 minutes before the light went off. Tended to disturb sleep after visiting the bathroom at night. Much the same with dinner. The langoustine starter was virtually tasteless. The tomato sauce tasted of nothing … We had to ask for the wine to be served 3x .… The main courses were very good. My pork chop was the best pork I’ve ever tasted. My wife’s fish was also very good but the veg for both of us was, for our taste, was over cooked. Then dessert - we ordered Tarte au Citron. What came to the table was not lemon tasting but we ate it. Commented as we left - turned out we were served pear tart. Quite nice but not lemon. The chef was very apologetic. Gave us a Calvados each and a small portion of Tarte au Citron which was excellent. A pity we didn’t get it for dessert. So, hit and miss - some good or very good, others need improvement. Also an excellent overnight stop as it’s 5 mins off the autoroute.

The restaurant is excellent but the hotel part is not finished. There was a narrow, dim hallway to get to the room with wires coming out of the walls and the ceiling. The room was small and spartan.

Confortable et pratique pour famille

Séjour de 2 nuits week-end Chambre lit double + chambre enfants communicante, parfait pour une famille Literie confortable, sdb pratique Malheureusement horaire de petit dej trop tardif (8h30 le week-end) donc nous n’avons pas pu en profiter (alors que c’est l’intérêt d’un hôtel versus un gîte) Et malheureusement du bruit à 4h du matin le dimanche pendant 1h (entre le couloir et dehors), pas la faute des gérants mais un manque de respect des autres clients

Top, belle accueil.

L'hôtel est en travaux mais hôtes très accueillant. Voulant télétravailler le lendemain, et compliqué de se concentrer avec le bruit des travaux par moment en journée, Monsieur m'a gentiment proposé une autre chambre pour être tranquille. J'ai beaucoup apprécié le geste. Je pense que d'ici les beaux jours avec les travaux fini ça va être formidable comme lieu 🙂

Escale au FAISAN DORE

Pour notre escale du WE au Faisan Doré, Nous avons passé une très bonne nuit et dégusté un très bon repas. La chambre et la salle de bain étaient très propre et en parfait état. Les parties communes mériteraient un "rafraîchissement", certainement prévu par les propriétaires à court terme.

Reality exceeded our first impressions.

The exterior of Hotel Le Faisan Dore looks old fashioned but our bedroom was newly renovated and very nice and comfortable. We stayed on a Monday which has very limited food on offer so we didn't experience 'La Table de Catherine'. It is 6 km from Argentan - a car is advisable as there are no amenities nearby.

Ne pas avoir peur en voyant l’extérieur, cet hôtel est bien situé pour une pause entre Caen et Le Mans, l’intérieur est un peu vieillot mais satisfaisant : toutes les chaînes TV, bouilloire et surtout très bon restaurant (plats aux alentours de 20€ et menu à 33€). Bon petit déjeuner, service impeccable

Un peu vieux, mais très agreable

Le lundi les cuisines sont restreintes. Le choix de repas est limité à trois choix, et c’est très bon avec possibilité de viande ou poisson. L’hôtel est assez vieux et en bord de route. Ceci est compensé par des chambres agréables et d’un bon lit. Pour les dormeurs au sommeil léger, prévoir des coulés Quies si vous êtes en bord de route.

Undergoing refurbishment

Breakfast was good, the hotel appears to be undergoing a refurbishment, and the room we stayed in had not yet been done. So was dated, and in need of modernisation, including the bathroom. Although some of the rooms had been modernised, ours wasn't, so overall it was dark and disappointing.
