Tsugaike Kogen is a very beginner friendly resort. Also closeby to the Hakuba Valley Shuttle (7 min walk). Restaurant selection in the area is decent! The public baths in this hotel are relatively quiet during off peak hours and a nice treat after a ski day - but with the size of the indoor and outdoor baths I can imagine it can feel crowded once 6+ people are there. The rooms are a very nice size and very clean. Bed is a bit firm but overall a comfortable stay. Daily breakfast is nice and offers a small variety of foods - mostly Japanese foods but some western items as well (cereal, french fries, yogurt, bread). Old hotel but very cozy. Breakfast was average- they had lot of variety though. For the price, it was ok. We were 4 staying in one room and didn't really feel that it was too congested. Lounge is extremely cozy after a day on mountains. They have a dry room which is great use for skiers. Onsen is awesome especially the one outside. We were using it every day. Must try dinner buffet especially because it comes with unlimited drinks, food was ok. But worth the price, i think. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Location couldn't be better- you can literally ski in ski out- although we did get a bit lost on the slopes trying to find the lifts closer to the hotel. That was mainly because we started skiing from gondola area which is only 5 mins walk away- just because we had to buy the tickets on day 1\. Woody's rental shop is also very close by so it became very convenient with rentals and stuff. Just be very careful while driving your car out of the car park in snow as it was very slippery on the end of carpark before you hit the main road."
