Beautiful Downeast Maine Family Lakeside Rental!

Family focused lakeside rental on Gardner Lake in East Machias, ME! Sleeps 13, with living, sitting, and kids rooms! Large wrap around deck with grilling and plenty of seating to relax and overlook the lake. Outside games available, including cornhole, ladder golf, and lawn jenga. Property is lakefront but on a shallow cove. Town boat landing and swimming is 1.5 miles away on Chase Mills Road. Sunrise Trail is less than 2.5 miles away. Great central location for Downeast Maine activities, roughly 35 minutes to Quoddy Head Lighthouse and State Park, 25 minutes to the Roque Bluffs State Park and Beach, 20 minutes to Jasper Beach, 40 minutes to Campobello Island, and 55 minutes to the St. Stephen Border Crossing.

Long weekend

My extended family stayed for three nights. We all enjoyed the house; the youngest was 20 and the oldest was 88. There was enough room for us to spread out, and the property was equipped with all the comforts that we needed. It was just what we needed.

Work Trip / Family Vacation

My husband had to work in Machias, so we had the opportunity to stay in this spacious house with our four kids. Although the weather wasn't ideal, we hardly noticed because the house was filled with an abundance of games, puzzles, and movies! We had a blast the entire time we were there. I also appreciated the decor and especially loved the cozy quiet spots where I could escape with a good book.

Fantastic Stay

Beautiful spacious house! Location was amazing. Sits right on the lake. Kayaking was a huge hit. Plenty to do for all the kids ages 0 -13. 13 of us stayed here to visit family in Machiasport. It was perfect. Thank you!

Maine Wedding

Had a wonderful time! The house was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of space as well as quiet. My 8 year old niece loves the toys in the play room which was a plus and although we didn’t get to use them, having the kayaks were and awesome extra! The personalized sign and the bag of goodies was a wonderful surprise. Would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Stay for Family of 10

We were so impressed with this rental home! Spacious and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The lake was gorgeous, we went out paddling every sunny day. The mud to get into the lake is a little extreme, but worth the effort of squelching through. If the drive wasn’t so long for us, I’m sure we would be returning. Highly recommend this home!!

Lovely lakeside house

House is beautiful and well maintained. Plenty of space for kids to play and adults to get away from the kids 😊. Kitchen well stocked. Lake is quiet. Lots of activities in the area that we enjoyed such as hiking and boating. Went to St Andrew’s in Canada for whale watching. Had a wonderful week and hope to go back some day.

Even Moose drawn to Gardner Lake

Imagine our amazement when a moose walked by along the shore of Gardner Lake one afternoon! This was our second visit to this wonderful home and it continues to deliver comfort, cleanliness, and a beautiful view from sunrise to sunset.

Perfect Spot

The Morris lake house was exactly what we needed for our trip. Perfect location of the main roads and on the lake. Ver impressed with all of the accommodations. Always a relief when you forgot all the kitchen things like a bag or parchment paper. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of room. One of the best VRBO houses we have stayed at. Lucas and Evonn responded in seconds with any questions. Couldn’t be happier.

Best VRBO ever

With an East facing (catch the sunrise) porch suitable for more than a dozen adults and enclosed for infants, I would grab this property to stay with friends anytime we are in the area. Owners have provided lots of the amenities. There is a lake view from the huge porch, fire circle and even kayaks. The house has excellent bedroom and living spaces. Great kitchen and even a kids playroom. Property is secluded but not too far from things. I would take this property any day over other coastal properties we visited. We counted and realized this place could sleep up to 14 people in beds so not including any sofas, foldouts or porch hammock which I enjoyed one night. Don’t miss this one.

Perfect getaway in a beautiful home

Nine of us enjoyed our stay here over a long weekend to ATV the Downeast Sunrise Trail. We travelled from this home to Ellsworth and back one day and to Calais and back the following day. I kayaked and fished on the lake. Hannaford and Dunkin were only a few miles away. The home was clean and beautiful! The deck is stunning plenty of seating for all of us to enjoy a BBQ and games at dinner and morning coffee overlooking the lake and listening to the loons. We loved that the linens, towels, pots/ pans, trashbags, and soo many more essentials were included. I had several questions before the trip for the owner and we received responses quickly. I highly recommend and we look forward to staying here again.

Anniversary Trip

We are from Illinois but got married in Maine 15 years ago. We wanted to show our children the beauty of Maine and this house was the perfect place to call home while we were there! We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. The house had everything we needed for our stay - plenty of room for our family, well appointed kitchen, comfy beds and couches, and nice and clean. We loved spending time sitting on the porch looking out on the lake. My youngest especially loved the hammock. We had a fire in the fire pit one night and we were lucky to have a clear sky another of the nights we were there - we got to see more stars than we have ever seen before. We had a lot of sights we wanted to see, but if we had wanted to, we could've easily kept ourselves entertained at the house the whole time we were in Maine. There are plenty of board games, yard games, movies, and they also have kayaks and life vests available for use. Our hosts even did a little something special to acknowledge our anniversary which we found very thoughtful. It was an easy drive to all the places we wanted to visit - Jasper Beach, Roque Bluff, Lubec and West Quoddy Head, Campobello Island, and Eastport to see Old Sow and eat at Fisherman's Wharf. Also, it was nice to be "away from it all" while still being just a short drive from Machias for restaurants (especially Helen's - pie, pie, pie) and grocery shopping at Hannaford's. I would highly recommend staying at this wonderful house!

Family trip for a graduation

We had an amazing 5 days. This trip involved 4 generations of my family. We came to Machias to go to my grandson’s high school graduation. Six of us came from Florida and the others were from Maine. The house was a perfect size for our family. We spent a majority of the time out on the deck. The weather was gorgeous for us. We were even given the opportunity to witness the wonderful wildlife in the area. We had two moose wander through the yard on one occasion. Then we had two deer come through twice. This was amazing. My youngest grandson who is 6 was able to wade in the lake and chase after bullfrogs. They did a little fishing and some kayaking as well. The kids took advantage to the trials and rented a side by side. This was an amazing property to enjoy the outdoors. The owners were available for any issues. The house was ready earlier than we were expecting. So all you need to do is pack up some groceries and you’re ready to enjoy the outdoors. We are already looking at planning our next trip in 2025. This trip will be a little longer. Thank you so much Lucus and Evonn for renting out such a beautiful property.

Staycation

I basically lived here for 3 months and didn’t want to leave. This property is amazing and has everything you would ever need. The owners are amazing as the house, I highly recommend this property!!!
