Could be such a grand hotel but it needs a massive amount of investment. The front facade looks like it's ready to fall away from the structure. Really looks dangerous. Room was fine for what we needed. We had dogs with us. We had dinner in the bar, it was ok. But we decided not to stay for breakfast. Great for getting the ferry. The hotel is old and needs a lot of money to spend on it but the owners are trying. It was very basic. Beds were comfortable and the hotel is nice and quiet and in a beautiful spot. Service was very poor, we didn’t come across a single member of staff over the 2 days we stayed, including check in and out. We had no hot water during our stay through either tap or shower, but no staff available to help. One of our windows was broken so couldn’t get it open during 30 degree heat. No batteries in the TV remote. Staff excellent, super friendly and accommodating. Hotel is comfortable and cozy and is a very old building which the owners are continuing to upgrade. Beautifully spacious and high ceilings with many period features. Breakfast was great too. Fortunately the electric wasn’t off for long, and we were shown to our newly refurbished room. It was nicely decorated, with a large bathroom and shower cubicle. The bed was comfortable and the room warm and it was quiet. The only downside was I paid for a sea view room but did not get this. Judging by the photos shown here on “Hotels”, I must have stayed at another hotel by the same name. On the plus side, I found the manager extremely helpful, and the other staff I met, friendly and helpful too. I’m very thankful to management for including breakfasts for the 2 night stay as recompense of issues raised during my stay. I think the owners were trying to make a good go of the business, but local government charges and business fees have had an impact on them, and progress has stopped or slowed right down. This was not the hotel I expected to stay in, going by the photos and some reviews. Would I return, not likely at this time.
