Fabulous!!!
We loved this wee house on the pier ! The wood stove, the comfy bed, and deceptively roomy layout ! The views, location and all round feeling of home, unbeatable! Best week we have spent away in years, our dog loved it too, though keeping her out of the sea every morning and night was a struggle 😂parking was always available and all you need is your clothes, food and toiletries, everything else supplied ! Washing machine was nice and quiet and instructions for all appliances was appreciated. I’m missing the views and the peace and quiet ! We will be back! Fabulous house, fabulous location, fabulous views ! Just fabulous !!!! Thank you for having us x

Stayed at the Post Office House a couple of times now and it is just perfect, cottage is cosy, warm and welcoming, views from the windows across the Loch are beautifully and so much to see in the surrounding area, unspoilt beauty. Love it and we will return again, maybe a week or two later so the rivers are open for fishing.

Lovely break away.
Spent a week here , I dare you not to sit at that breakfast table each morning and simply dream at the view across the loch !! I honestly got up early to see the skies in the morning , and the different water birds coming and going on the water. Oyster catchers, curlews, eider ducks , merganser etc. On our last day a seal popped his head out of the water too !! Visited nearby Church and churchyard , that’s worth the visit , also local Arboretum , great walks for all capabilities. The cottage itself is , clean , and tidy and has everything you need for a self catering stay.

Great base for exploring the Cowal peninsula
Wonderful quirky cottage on the shore of Holy Loch. Perfect base for exploring the local area, with some great walks and amazing scenery. Michael was a very helpful host and everything was just as it “says on the tin”. Enjoyed evenings in for dinner, but also 2 meals out at The Coylet Inn (highly recommended). We travelled via Loch Lomond (stopped in Luss) and back using the ferry. Both worked well. All in all a great break in a stunning part of Scotland

Lovely stay. So warm and welcoming. Host very friendly. Sitting at the table looking over the Loch was perfect.. as was walking on the beach. Or sitting on the pier bench drinking a coffee. A Beautiful cottage for a holiday. This was our third time staying at the Old Post Office and won't be the last. The cottage sits on a pier with a pebble beach just at the back. Lots of local walks long, short Easy of hard. Pucks Glen is a must see, a beautuful glade with waterfalls but it is a bit steep if like me your the wrong side of 70.

Very dissapointed!
On arriving at pier cottage we were very dissapointed, the outside areas are very unkempt, lots of weeds about, cottage just looked very sad and neglected from the outside appearance. The inside of the cottage is just lovely, decorated nicely and with everything that you need to enjoy a wee break away. The bed though was extremely uncomfortable, bed springs could be felt with your hands even before sleeping on the mattress, we ended up having to use the spare duvet as a cover for the sad painful mattress which badly needs replacing urgently. The so-called access area at side of cottage to the shingle beach is a complete joke, waist high weeds, disused large blue waste bag at entrance, no clear defined path down to access beach and before any arguments start we're not interested in tit-for-tat between council or owner responsibility, if you use the term of access to beach in your blurb then be prepared to accept honest opinion as to what is considered acceptable or not and again, before the 'tree-huggers' start about conserving the wild flower areas, it's really not acceptable to try and fight your way down through waist high weeds, not all of wear hiking boots and trousers!! Being completely honest if it wasn't for the inside of pier cottage we WOULD NOT have stayed here, definitely not worth the money!! Lot's of genuine TCL is needed to the outside of the cottage, we have come back really dissheartend and disappointed with our stay at pier cottage for all the points previously said 😪

Response from VrboOwner on 21 Jul 2022
I'm glad that you liked the interior of the cottage, and I'm so sorry you were disappointed with other aspects of your visit. It's a great pity you did not contact us to let us know that you were not getting on with the mattress, we could have immediately exchanged it to one more to your liking. The path to the beach does get strimmed, but not till the wild flowers are past their best. The cottage dates back to 1820, 'B' listed, so the outside is limewashed rather than painted so the masonry will breathe. In damp weather this can have a blotchy appearance which some dislike, it then dries to a more uniform white. It is due its annual coats of limewash, delayed this year by prolonged wet weather followed by too hot weather. The prolonged wet spring weather also caused problems with our usual weed spraying at the front, the weedkiller just washing off before acting. This has now been addressed. Kind regards, Mike

We had a lovely week exploring this beautiful area. The cottage is both airy and cosy at the same time! We really enjoyed the open plan living on different levels and the warmth of the wood burner in the evenings. I am missing the fabulous views from the cottage and watching the oyster catchers and herons on the loch. I would certainly recommend this old post office as a lovely base for walking and sightseeing in Argyll and Bute.

Wee Gem
Perfect wee cottage for 2, great location to explore the Holy Loch. Arboretum a short walk away, perfect if bringing dogs. Ardentinny beach is just beautiful and the forest above for a good hike. The cottage itself is very cosy, the heating system is amazing and the woodburner is nice to have on in the evening, but actually not really necessary because the cottage is so warm. The kitchen has everything required although we didn't cook much. We bought take out food from Blairmore Cafe or Sheila's Diner. Having a washing machine was very much appreciated, especially to put our running gear on a quick wash and the dog towels. The washing was dry in no time due to the very efficient blow heating. The bedroom is spacious, although we found the bed too soft (we both have bad back) so need a firm mattress, but that's just personal preference. We loved looking out the windows, especially when the ferry docked at night. Eating breakfast and looking out the window over the loch is just a delight. Plenty hot water for a shower after a long day out. We just love the PO House and will definitely return in the future. Thank you for having us once again, I think that's our 3rd visit and we travel alot with our dogs but always bounce back to Kilmun!

Property as described and has everything you need for self catering break. We opted for ferry route to add to the adventure! Enjoyed great nearby walks with dog, trips to beach followed by chill out in the cottage with the most fabulous views. We loved the kitchen and spent alot of time preparing food purchased from the "wee butchers" before retiring to the fireside with a good old fashioned dvd and glassa. Mike was in contact to check all in order but not intrusive and communicated well. We loved our break and would recommend to anyone looking to get away from it and simply chill.

Myself and husband finally got our holiday at Post Office House after rescheduling several times due to Covid lockdowns/restrictions. It was worth waiting for! Terrifically cosy place with everything we needed to relax and recharge. Loved the wood stove and the loch views. Stargazing from the bedroom gable windows. Morning walks down to the park and along the beach. Hikes in the arboretum. Drives along the coast. The list goes on. Would return in a heartbeat!

Comfortable and well-equipped cottage
A quirky, cosy and tastefully decorated star of a cottage. It is like a TARDIS! Open the two red doors to find a colourful stained glass doorway which leads into a surprisingly large open plan space. Scandinavian style aplenty. The sitting area is very cosy with a log burner. Two dining areas: one on ground level, another, down four steps, in the large, well-equipped kitchen. Lovely views of the pier with the pleasure of watching the tide rise and fall. The bathroom is on the ground floor with a great shower, very tasteful decoration again. Upstairs there is a comfortable bed and large chest which will hold whatever you bring. Great sleep, every night. The space inside has been very cleverly utilised. It is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. We were a party of three with our pet and we had plenty room. The location , being right on the pier, is beautiful. Spend time with a cuppa just watching all the little boats bobbing and you will feel calmed in only a few moments. Kilmun is a great base for access to some of Scotland's most impressive scenery. A day visit to the Isle of Bute is a real treat, with the journey to the ferry terminal at Colintraive taking you through mountain passes that never disappoint, whatever the weather. Bute, itself, is charming, with some absolutely beautiful beaches. Mike, our host, was fantastic at communicating. Questions were answered in a flash. Very friendly and helpful. You will be hard pushed to find a better place to stay! Thanks for a great holiday, Mike.
