The Royal Burgh of Dunfermline is of considerable historic interest and is the resting place of King Robert the Bruce. Carnegie's Birthplace museum, the Abbey and Abbot House reflect the historic interest of the City, whilst recent developments have seen Dunfermline move into the modern era with Carnegie Museum and Library. Dunfermline is located approximately five miles from the Forth Road bridges/ Queensferry Crossing and is therefore particularly popular with commuters to Edinburgh and many parts of the central belt with easy access to the M90 motorway with its direct links to Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee and across the Kincardine Bridge by way of motorways to Stirling, Glasgow and the West. It benefits from a full range of shops, social and leisure facilities and educational establishments associated with a modern City. In a quiet residential area, but an easy 25 minute walk into the historic area ( Carnegie birthplace museum, and the Abbey are must sees in this town, as is the beautiful park). The house was spotless. Clean as a whistle! Very nicely furnished and equipped, and comfortable. We didn’t use the deck, but there is a great area to the side of the house if you want to sit outdoors. And a washing machine in the cupboard under the stairs.. very useful if you are on a longer trip and need to do laundry. The hosts were extremely responsive to all communication and clearly want their guests to have an enjoyable stay. This is also a convenient location for anyone flying out of Edinburgh airport ( if you have a car). A very easy 25 minute drive from the house to the rental car drop off.
