Safe parking next to room. Contactless check in & check out so we never met the host. However, Serge replied promptly to my texts and explained check in procedure and readily accommodated late check because we had been delayed by rescheduled Ferry crossings, severe weather and heavy traffic.

Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin
Despite the website advertising a bar and restaurant there were neither only a breakfast room. The 25NZD parking per night also comes as a surprise ! The hotel is typical 3 star but beginning to look a little tired. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast simple but adequate.

Beach lodge motel
If I could give a negative for the stars I would. I stayed at this hotel in September 2025 and the comforter was dirty. We removed the comforter before going to sleep, as we refused to sleep with this. The next morning I showed this to the management, an indeed they agreed it was dirty and they apologized. ...
