Disappointing room but outstanding food.
Only a small double bed. Expected king and single. Room very tired, curtains wouldn't meet without exposing gap at side. Eventually secured with safety pin!. BUT brilliant grounds with direct entry to them and incredibly good food both for dinner and the breakfast was probably the best choice we've ever been given. And dogs were free!

A wee gem of a hotel
We all really enjoyed our stay, especially our dog who got sausages for dinner. Very relaxing atmosphere, owners very welcoming and friendly. The setting in among the trees was wonderful. The food was second to none. We will definitely be back.

Lovely family hotel in a beautiful setting, idea for walking or just visiting the local quaint towns. Memorable breakfasts where tea is served in a pot and you don’t have to make your own toast. A great selection for dinner, from traditional to Asian cuisine. Highly recommended, great value

I enjoyed my stay at The Clonyard Hotel. The room we had was huge with antique furniture and an old fashioned fireplace. Each room is individualized. The dining room hadn't altered in 40 years. I can say this with certainty as I remember eating at The Clonyard with my parents! But in a nostalgic way, I found this rather charming! The room was cleaned daily and fresh towel left if required. Tea, coffee and packets of biscuits were also in our room. If you are looking for a 'Travel Lodge' type hotel where everything is uniform then the Clonyard isnt for you! But if you are looking for somewhere with character, charm, shabby chic and sash windows :this would be a perfect choice.

A nostalgic trip back to the area after a few years away. We had stayed many times at the Clonyard over the last few decades. Nick the owner and chef has invested quite a lot on the property over the year and we enjoyed good food and facilities once again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Excellent food with good choice of menu. Our suite was large and very comfortable. The hotel is a little dated so I could pick minor faults but overall I would much rather stay at a family run property than at an impersonal modern chain hotel. I will be happy to return in future.

Care and attention shines through.
Clonyard House Hotel is situated in lovely grounds a few miles south of Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway. The owner and staff are very accommodating and overall the service was excellent. I was with a group of friends and we had very reasonably priced evening meals, and on one morning an excellent early breakfast which was served well outwith the hotel’s normal catering hours as we had an early start that day. There was a good selection on the menu and the food was prepared and cooked to perfection.

Hotel was clean , gardens well kept . Breakfast was nice and lady serving was very pleasant and helpful. Only niggle for myself was booking a room for 4 people and only bedding for 2 people ready I had to make the bedding up myself and convert sofa bed( which is fine but the duvets and pillows should have been made up ready for 4 people also only 2 cups in room for 4 people..

Lovely stay at the Clonyard
We enjoyed a relaxing short break at this comfortable, family-run hotel, which is in a beautiful location. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and we also enjoyed dinner in the conservatory. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we slept well. We have visited before and will do so again.

Had a lovely stay with my 2 daughters at Clonyard Hotel. We booked a family room which was very spacious and full of character. The room was very clean as was the ensuite shower room. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay again.

CLONYARD Colvend.
Nice little hotel with good rooms and excellent for dogs and parking. Limited food menu as might be expected. Good food though. Best place to stay for miles around in this lovely part of Scotland.

Rooms are ground floor with sitting area outside. Light and airy. Comfortable bed. Furniture old fashioned for some tastes. Only 2 power points so bring an adaptor. Bathroom high standard, although its a shower not.a bath. Combination lock safe in room. Car parking convenient. Rural location. Breakfast excellent and cooked to order. Dining excellent. I will be coming back.

OK value but very outdated
An unusual hotel with distinctive separate bedroom + lounge rooms which must have been very unusual when built. However extremely dated with 1980s bathroom and bedroom furniture. The staff were super friendly though and trying very hard. I'm sure some people will love the quaint charm but it could be a shock to others.

Fabulous part of Scotland.
This is a great spot to stay. It’s One of the best places we came across on our trip around Scotland. An excellent location with walks all around, lovely landscapes and beaches and not too many people around

Last minute deal in a lovely traditional hotel.
Last minute deal at a great price. Upgraded to a much larger room which made it an even better deal. Friendly and helpful staff and a good breakfast. Good bar meal too.

Wonderful hotel
I chose this hotel because it was near a city I wanted to visit but it was kind of out of the way of the cities which is what I was looking for. This was our first night in Scotland and the welcome they gave us was absolutely wonderful. We arrived early so we decided to have lunch there while we waited. Our service was very fast and our food was out in no time. It was delicious. That was the best club sandwich I've ever had. After that we checked into our room which was located up stairs. It was a beautiful room and so beautiful. The bathroom was huge. Everything was so clean in both the room and bathroom. We also got lucky and had a beautiful view. After doing some sight seeing we came back to the hotel and had dinner. That was also amazing and the dessert was great to. The staff that night was so great and the guy at the bar was so nice and was so patient helping me figure out what drink to get for my husband since he was looking for a cider. He was so nice about it. The dining area was beautiful and the view while you eat was very nice. The room was very comfortable and made our stay very nice. To top off our stay we had the most amazing breakfast. The menu was quite similar to every other breakfast menu we had while staying in Great Britain but the difference between this one and the rest was that it was freshly made and it was so dang good. I was very impressed with our entire stay and would love to go back and stay.

Nice place in lovely area.
The hotel was very nice and is set in beautiful surroundings. The staff were really friendly and very accommodating. The full Scottish breakfast was just what I needed. Happy to recommend this establishment.

The hotel is in a lovely location. Staff were very helpful and friendly and really couldn't do enough for you. We ate in the hotel and found the food to be of a very good standard. Unfortunately the hotel is a bit tired and could do with an update. Despite this it wouldn't stop us going back as it's very good value for money.

Upon arrival, we were offered a twin room in addition to the family room due to the sofa bed being quite small. This was very much appreciated. The rooms were adequate. A little dated but we quite liked the rustic charm. The breakfast was great, cereals, yoghurt, choice of cooked breakfast items all fab. The bar was always busy and staff attentive. The only thing that let it down was the lunch we had on the day we were leaving. We had planned a family meet up, the first time we had all been together in 5 years. Unfortunately, the waitress appeared to be on her own and although she did her best to try to ensure things ran smoothly, the service fell short and we were left wondering where items had gone and had to chase things up frequently. This was a shame as we had really enjoyed our stay apart from this. The food, however, was fantastic. No complaints there.
