We have stayed at this house for several events. The hosts are the best that I have dealt with through VRBO! The house has all that you need! We are looking forward to our next stay!
This is the best place to stay when visiting Hillsville! The house is clean, well equiped, secure, and comfortable. The owners are very accomodating before , during, and after your stay. I would give them more than 5 stars, if I could. I have already booked for next year !
We had such a peaceful few days. The house was spacious, clean and well stocked. We enjoyed walks, sitting by the creek, morning coffee on the deck and drives through the beautiful countryside.
Exceptional and incredible! We never wanted to leave! One of the most beautiful and relaxing places we’ve ever stayed. The house was perfect, everything you could need! Our dog love the doggie hammock and fenced in yard, so perfect when traveling with pets! We can’t wait to come back!
We completely enjoyed our stay at Dugspur. Directions to the property and check in instruction were very clear. Property both inside and out was inviting and clean. Inside was welcoming and very organized. The kitchen especially was well stocked with all the utensils and appliances we needed. There was plenty of room for our border collies and us on the first floor so we did not use the upstairs. It did appear to be nicely set up. We really enjoyed the creekside setting. Even though we had cool/rainy weather, the BC's really enjoyed playing in the creek and walking on the quiet roads. The hosts were very responsive and helpful with several questions we had.
The home had every thing we needed and a lot more. The creek flowing buy below was the most relaxing ambiance anyone could ask for. There were many historic and exciting places to visit near by. We are also into thrifting and were not disappointed. Thanks. We will be back!
We loved the house. The children were thrilled with the toys and the loft set-up. The only thing wrong was Keurig coffee maker does not brew correctly. The other coffee maker works great. Had a great time… loved the country scenery.
We rented this home when we were in town for daughters wedding. The house was perfect for husband and myself downstairs, son, dil and 2 grandchildren upstairs. My 2 dogs loved the small fenced in area. Grandkids loved the river, games, toys and wild life. House had everything we needed. Beds comfortable, kitchen well stocked. Owners were wonderful to work with and extremely communicative. We will remember this house when we come back to visit daughter and new sil in Dugspur again. Thank you
My husband and I, along with our Jack Russell Terrier, Bishop, enjoyed a wonderful week relaxing creekside. Tubing down Big Reed Island Creek was a blast! And so relaxing. A wonderful neighbor, Brenda, drove us to a beachy area further down the creek so we could enjoy a 2 hour float. The stairs down to creek only look daunting- we didnt have a problem. The lawn area was perfect for badminton and cornhole. It's a wonderful place to relax.
The neighborhood is perfect for walking, and it was a short ride into Hillsville for groceries and dining. There are several Farmers Markets, a cool Mercantile on Main Street and an excellent pizza place.
The house was comfortable and offered all we needed for a relaxing, quiet vacation.
Very nice place.
The parking was ample and easy to load and unload the vehicle. The unit is thoughtfully stocked with just about everything you could need- the owners even left a discount card for the local supermarket.
The house sits up above the river with a great view to the water and over the trees. The sound of the water can be heard on the deck and in the house, creating a really relaxing and stress free vibe.
One of the things I really liked is that the range fan actually vents outside, so cooking is a breeze. The kitchen is well stocked with necessary pots, pans and tooling.
The deck has both a covered portion and open areas. We were there in early spring, so the open areas for the sun were very welcome, but I can see how some relief from the summer sun would be nice, and it's thoughtfully prepared for comfort with a nice outdoor table set and a hammock. They even had outdoor pet beds for the quadrupeds.
The furniture is comfy, and the place is decorated in a cute, kinda country, style. There is easy access to the blue ridge parkway and all it has to offer.
The owners were responsive and accommodating. Overall, a very enjoyable place.
The house was extremely clean and so cute! The view from the deck is perfect with a hot cup of coffee! Hoping we can come back next Oct and make this an annual trip!
We loved our stay here! The kids loved the playroom, there was lots of space, the view was beautiful, the house was fully stocked with everything we needed and more, the host was wonderful… I could go on, but simply put, it was very evident the hosts put so much love and hard work and thought into making this a truly remarkable place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks again for everything, Sandy. You were magnificent, helpful, and so very kind! We look forward to returning next year if possible.
The house was clean. Everything is provided, I mean basically everything but food. It is pet friendly, has a nice little fenced in backyard off the master bedroom which was so convenient. The host were very nice, helpful and easy to work with. Beautiful view and the river sound from the house was amazing… so soothing and relaxing. Can’t wait to go back!
The house was spotless and well equipped with everything we needed. We loved that the master bedroom had a sleep number bed. We prefer a very firm mattress and were able to have that while there. The steps down to the water are as steep as they look in the pictures so you need to be in shape to get up and down. The area by the water was perfect. We enjoyed relaxing both on the water and by the water.
We stayed at this location due to my son participating in the New River Triathlon. The river and state park is a 30 minute drive, the town of Hillsville is 15 minutes and has whatever you need. The river is down a wooden staircase which has handles on both sides. My son and granddaughter did some tubing which was great! Would stay here again!

Wonderful Place!
We came down to see our son graduate from Virginia Tech. We needed a place that was pet friendly, and that also offered all the comforts of home. By the end of the weekend we didn't WANT to go home! The house is lovely, the property is secluded without feeling isolated. Every item we could have needed was provided, right down to the smallest detail. As soon as we arrived we extended our stay! We hope to have the opportunity to come back again!
The property is impeccably maintained and you can tell that the hosts invest time and care into it. It is well appointed and would be the vacation home you would personally have as your own. The hosts were very responsive to all of our specific questions and made us feel very welcome. We hope to come back in the fall to enjoy the changing of the leaves. This property allowed us to spend a very important milestone, the graduation of our younger son from Va Tech, in a peaceful and enjoyable surrounding to celebrate this family event together . It is also very dog friendly as well and falling asleep to the sounds of rushing water below is an added bonus.

Great place!
This place was perfect! We spent Memorial Day Weekend here. The house was a halfway point between WV and SC for us to meet. The location is secluded yet close to town. The home is nicely decorated with anything you cold possibly need for your stay. We were able to bring our dogs with us and the fenced in yard was perfect. The sounds of the creek were awesome. The owners are wonderful to work with with every detail from reservations to check in to providing all that you need while there. Would reccommend this house to others and hope to come back again some day ourselves. Thank you for sharing the "Creekside" with us.
Very nice and wellstocked home not allapreciated the inflatable beds. While the crrekside is lovely the many. Many stairs to get there will be a challenge for many. The driveway also is a challenge to exit onto a single lane road

wonderful!!!!
My husband's family lives in the area, and this was the perfect way to visit. This has been the best house I have ever rented! Most of the houses I have rented has been on the outer banks and a couple of cabins in TN. This house by far is the best. With the exception of the massive rain storm the weekend was perfect. Thank you very much for opening up your house for us to use. We will be calling you again.

Pleasant Week
We spent a wonderful week at this lovely home . The home is clean and comfortable. It is very well equipped and appears well loved by its owners. We brought our two long haired dachshunds and they enjoyed the fenced yard located conveniently off the master bedroom. They met another long haired dachshund who lives in the neighborhood. The neighborhood felt safe and it was pleasant for walking. We did a number of day trips and when we were at the house spent a lot of time on the porch listening to the creek. Thank you for allowing us to spent such a pleasant week at your home and giving us the opportunity to bring our dogs.

Wonderful Time
The cabin was perfect for us. It is new and clean and comfortable and decked out with everything we could need. The wrap around porch was wonderful and the fall views were spectacular. Our German Shepherd, Toby, had a blast playing in the creek and catching frisbee on the grassy shoreline. The water was fairly high during our stay and it rained hard one night, so the current in the stream was clipping right along. It was fine for our 80lb dog, but a small dog might struggle. I'm sure that is very much affected by the season, rainfall, etc...but something to consider if you have a smaller dog who loves the water. The cabin sits above the yard and creek, so you walk down quite a few stairs to access that area, which was fine for us. The yard and creek area are lovely. There are two houses on one side, but no one was around during our stay, so we had complete privacy. We would very much love to do another stay and highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.
