I decided to stay another night in Wichita and didn't want to pay close to $100 to stay where I stayed the night before. I took a chance on the Wesley Inn. It's certainly dated and the furnishings are worn, but the room was clean and it was a good location for visiting the kiddo at WSU. If I needed a meal, there were plenty of quick options within a minute of the hotel. I didn't enjoy walking by someone right outside the entrance who was smoking right in front of the No Smoking sign (while looking at the sign, no less), but the rooms were smoke-free, so all was good after walking through that cloud. Overall, I would stay here again to save a few bucks during a quick trip to visit the kid.
We travel a lot and this hotel became a fast favorite. The Expedia deal that included free breakfast and free parking made it really affordable to stay in a very upscale hotel. The beds were among the most comfortable ones we've found in a hotel and the pool was perfectly warm with lots of pool noodles and beach balls to play with. We also enjoyed the two hot tubs. Great breakfast too.
Very nice staff, very helpful, clean, neat hotel with great amenities. Was a little unusual not to have a restaurant in the hotel or in the immediate vicinity but they take care of that nicely offering shuttles to restaurants and provide menus for places that deliver and the staff was knowledgeable of the menu choices - that was nice.
Although our stay was short, we very much enjoyed it. The room and service was exceptional. Learning the history of the building and collection displayed added to our enjoyment. We would highly recommend this hotel.
The room was spacious and lovely. The front desk staff was very helpful and kind. Had trouble with the valet service as there didn't seem to ever be anyone working it (not that you needed it, there was a parking garage available right there)but if it's an advertised service, then I expect someone to be there during the day. Had to have front desk staff get the car one day and one of the waiters in the restaurant get it another day.
The hotel bar and restaurant needs a manager to train front and back of house staff. Saturday, 1pm, we decided to have a drink in the bar. There was one person working(the place was dead) and he admitted that he only bartended once a month. The drinks were fantastic and he did a great job, but it took him 20 minutes to figure out where everything was to be able to make 4 different drinks. He was very nice and we were in no rush, but there was a moment of panic by us as we watched him crawl around on the bar trying to find all the correct spirits.
Decided to have breakfast with friends on Sunday morning. Had to refill our own water and coffee from the wait station b/c our waiter disappeared for 20 minutes+. When we received our order, the food was not as listed on the menu/ordered. I ordered poached eggs, which basically came out as hard boiled. The restaurant is a lovely space, but we were not taken care of and breakfast took us almost 2 hours for 6 people. Other people came and went in the time it took to receive our breakfast.
