    Walk in feeling refreshed at this beautifully decorated cottage in the center of Douglas, Michigan. The new vacation home has so much to offer, three bedrooms, a large yard, great location, and the bonus of being practically neighbors with Farmhouse Deli. This home will leave you feeling relaxed as you discover the beauty both inside and outside of this home.

    INSIDE THE HOME
    This single story home will leave you breathless from the moment you arrive. Walk into this freshly designed home with an ample amount of natural light. The kitchen is fully stocked with all your basic needs, dining for 4 with 3 bar stools at the breakfast bar, a spacious living room, three bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. Settle in for the night by cozying up next to the electronic fireplace and turning on your favorite movie. Wake up and enjoy fresh air with your morning coffee by sitting out on the screened in porch that is attached to the Primary Suite.

    OUTDOOR SPACE
    Enjoy the outdoors on either side of the home. Walk out of the living room and be greeted with a fenced in yard that offers a firepit big enough to fit 6 around. On the other side of the home, there is a perfect screened in porch overseeing the large backyard with enough room for plenty of activities.

    THE LOCATION
    Right in the smack dab middle of Douglas, Michigan. Roughly a 10 minute walk to downtown Douglas or about half a mile. You are also within a walkable distance to Douglas Beach, 1 mile away. Downtown Saugatuck is 1.5 miles away. Directly next door are Pizza Mambo and Farm House Deli. This home has so much to offer within a 2 mile radius.

Great property and location

We met friends here for a long weekend stay and loved the location of this property. Douglas was quieter than Saugatuck and we could walk to a great deli, coffee shops, grocery, restaurants, and Douglas Beach. We enjoyed a night in with the grill and fire pit, too. The house was very clean and comfortable for our party of 4. I would stay here again!

Amazing Michigan Cottage!

Our stay at Douglas Cottage was the perfect location for our Memorial Day weekend getaway! The house was clean, beautifully decorated and had a great location for outings to downtown areas of Douglas and Saugatuck and Oval Beach. It was well-furnished with everything we needed. We enjoyed the firepit and patio each evening and the frequent sightings of deer, turkeys and bluejays. The whole family would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time, such a convenient location, close to farmhouse, the root beer barrel, and the beach. We spent the weekend all over Saugatuck and Douglas and loved coming back to the fenced yard and screened porch at night. A really great house. Thanks for being such great hosts!

The cottage is very cozy and nicely decorated. The location is great. Close to beach & shopping. The only issues we had were the coffee maker did not work properly and toilet roll holder in master en suite fell off the wall when attempting to place a roll of toilet paper. We had a great time. Excellent customer service!

Gecko Getaway was not our original booking, but due to a power outage in the area, we had to move from our original location. Jaqua Realtors, the rental agency was outstanding in helping us relocate and this unit turned out to be awesome! The hot tub was a great bonus. Entry and check out were easy. Cabin was clean and spacious.and lots of character. The beds were comfortable enough and we enjoyed movies up in the cozy loft.

Cozy Cottage

We loved the stay, and how cozy everything was. Perfect. and it was so convenient to everything. All was wonderful, just wanted to let the owners know that the kitchen canister lights were out, and that if more larger towels could be provided, that would be great. Other than that, we couldn't have raved more about our stay. In the evening, we were able to watch a herd of deer pass through the yard and graze across the street. We truly enjoyed ourselves. This house is perfect! Great location! My husband and I are walkers. We stayed for a week and walked to Saugatuck most days, a 22 minute easy walk. Saugatuck is an adorable little town on the Kalamazoo river with great restaurants and shopping and walkways with benches to watch the excellent boat traffic. Douglass was also a quick walk, maybe 3 minutes with restaurants and shops. Douglas beach was an easy 16 minute walk. We walked there in the evenings to watch the amazing sunset on Lake Michigan. We walked from Douglas beach to Oval beach one morning, a great walk! We enjoyed the back porch, having dinner there from Mambo Pizza right next door 4 nights. The town of Holland is just a 15 minute drive, a beautiful little town with fabulous restaurants shopping. This house would have easily accommodated another couple w children, or 3 couples.

Almost great

The Douglas Cottage itself was beautiful, convenient to shopping and restaurants, and very comfortable…everything a visitor could possibly need. However, prior to our stay, there had been a storm which knocked out the internet to the cottage for our entire 5-day stay. This was extremely inconvenient as I edit copy for an educational consulting company. I was unable to do that while in the cottage. Since there was no internet, we also had no TV for the entire stay. I asked for compensation for 1-day’s stay, a very reasonable request given the expense of the rental. I was given only 100 as compensation which is not reasonable given the inconvenience. The leasing company was easy to reach and had said they would consider giving me the rest of one day’s rental, however I have not heard back from them one way or another. I am hoping they can see their way to granting my request.
