Our first contact was through the phone contact available on the Expedia confirmation email. Instead of going directly to the Hotel, it was a number to the Mercure global helpline. After 5 minutes of research, we were confirmed that the restaurant of the hotel was open. When we arrived, it was closed. At arrival, we parked our car in the Hotel private parking space, and had to cross a road with no safe pedestrian crossing, right after a very busy roundabout coming from speedway road. At the reception we were received by a somewhat anxious receptionist that seemed to be in a rush because there was a line of...1 person behind us. We were told the restaurant and kitchen was closed, so we asked if he could point us to a good local direction. His answer was " go online, and get JUST EAT, you know... the app, and order food, and we'll take it to your room. So we went to the room, and made a reservation to a local restaurant ourselves. the room was a good room, clean, very quiet. But we were 2 adults and 1 child, and there was towels for 2 only. the "free toiletries" were 1 usage tiny bottle of shampoo, and 1 usage tiny bottle of shower gel. no hand soap, no hair dryer. We slept well, room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast dropped at the door at the time we asked for. 3 little brown bags with "continental breakfasts": it seemed like 3 little goody bags for child birthday party, but sadder. Industrially made dry small pastries, no hot coffee or milk. We left quickly and went

The hotel was not fully opened and was operating with a reduced staff although it was difficult to order a beer and have it in less than 20 minutes: the staff was always running to work on other things. The menu was accessed through a QR code, thou every day or had amendments and nothing we requested was available - they printed other menus for the day. The breakfast was the most disappointing experience I have ever had in a hotel, it looks like Ryan air was delivering the left overs to them sell. We paid £7 for a continental breakfast and we’ve got a small juice in a box, uno orange, one semi frosty croissant, jam and small yogurt. It was really something they would serve on a short flight - photos on Google. There was clearly a bad design of the services due the COVID, though they should make us aware of what we were paying and what we would be getting. The rooms had the windows not fully sealed due a bad state of the frames, so it was cold. Also the mini fridge in the apartment was broken, not making any degree change to make things a bit colder. The staff was amazing in trying their best, also they issued me the refund for the breakfast.

Disappointing Stay
My husband and I stayed here for the weekend to get a bit of a break after the stress of Covid. We received a warm welcome upon arrival from Jonathan, who was really helpful for the duration of our stay, but that was where the positives ended. The whole place looks a bit run down and was in definite need of a refresh. It also wasn't as clean as you would expect currently; there were cobwebs everywhere, all the light switches looked a bit grubby and the table tops looked like they could use a wipe. The carpet in our room was very stained and in need of a clean and the air con didn't work properly. I am not sure if they are operating on skeleton staff because we only saw one staff member the entire time we were there. The bed was simply awful, it was rock solid and gave both me and my husband backache. So, we came away not having had the 2 nights of good rest we were hoping for. It's not the worst place we have stayed in by far, but we won't be returning.

I think it had just opened after COVID and they were doing their best- room was clean and lovely. Shame the swimming pool wasn’t open which wasn’t clear when booking and dining was limited but fine for our needs for one night- you could arrange a takeaway if preferred- the additional £5 to have it bought to your room was unnecessary so we ate alone in the lounge downstairs. Breakfast had the worlds smallest croissant but was fine - left outside your room in A brown paper bag. I enjoyed the stay and it was all ok in the circumstances.
