"It was cold the night we stayed there, it was difficult to regulate temperature as it kept getting extremely hot so I had to turn off the heat and then it would get cold fast. Not good insulation. It was clean and good price. Host is excellent. "

"This hotel opened its restaurant at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, for breakfast for guests who were booked for a train excursion that boarded at 7 a.m. What excellent service. We talked to other people who had stayed at other local hotels and were told that some hotels did not alter their hours to accommodate this important event (the train ride to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States). Kudos to the Doubletree in Newark, Ohio."

"The hotel was okay. We checked in late in the day as we were traveling for my daughter volleyball tournament the next day first thing in the morning. The problem started at 2am the fire alarm went off and evacuated the hotel (determined false alarm). After 30-45min we were told it was clear to return to the room. After we finally fell back to sleep about 3:30ish, the fire alarm goes off again about 4am. With having to be uo at 6am, we ended up staying awake. So we paid for a stay that we got no sleep. This hotel might have an issue with the fire alarm system because talking with a gentleman that travels for his job and had been at the hotel about a week said this happened a few days or so before with no explanation. I doubt I would stay again"

"Other than a few potholes in the entrance of the parking lot. The stay was economical and the staff was great."
