![Boat-to-shore, the expedition to Mavulis (Y'Ami) Island is not for the faint hearted. This is the northernmost tip of the Philippines 🇵🇭. Any further and one will be crossing to Taiwan territory already. This island is uninhabited save for some soldiers who has a small detachment station there. Getting to the peak (719 feet) can be a bit challenging for people who are not used to steep trekking/climbing. But the view at the top is nothing short of breath taking! Singing "Lupang Hinirang" (the Philippine national anthem) while hoisting the Philippine flag was quite emotional. "The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are nice as is the pool. The building is not complete. The upstairs bar was not available. The menu is tiny and the food portions tiny. It is chronically understaffed. The breakfast was poor. We would not eat dinner there and bought more breakfast elsewhere. Coffee was rubbish. The wifi was hopeless to connect. Every day go to the office for a new code. Sometimes twice a day. No mention of cash only till departure checkout! No warning at all! Only one...

"PRO: Walkable (5-10mins walk) from the airport, quiet location, clean, nature-ry, has a non-chlorinated pool, kind and helpful staff, free and delish breakfast, room was spacious and clean, bathroom was spacious, clean and updated, AC was strong/cool, flush/toilet was tested and passed with flying colors, has a tiny honesty store in-site (well-stocked, reasonably priced), wifi is decent, easy to find transport, staff will hook you up with tours, very accomodating with early check-in (we arrived at 8-9am and they still checked us in with breakfast too!). CON: Water pressure can be weak (bidet), no bell in the front desk which can cause some delay since we have to look for the staff, laundry service is pricey. RECOMMENDATION: Highly recommended for short/long stay in Basco for business/leisure."
