The Aberdare Country Club is for the most part amazing, but with so much potential to be more than it is. The location is great for tourists, but lousy if you're in Nyeri for business as it's a ways out of town. The little villas are quaint, but it would still be nice to have a tv and internet. Meals are good, but repetitive if you're there for more than a couple nights.…

Booked this accommodation for a birthday weekend to see elephants. WORST check-in experience of my life. Upon arrival, reception told me we would stay at the Country Club instead of The Ark. This is a totally different location about one hour drive from the saltlick/lake where the Ark is built and located in town not in the park with wildlife. It’s a plain hotel. After explaining that there was a mistake and showing her my booking confirmation for The Ark, the receptionist rolled her eyes at me and walked away. Another receptionist approached and curtly told me I had no choice but to stay at the Country Club, because they didn’t have any rooms left and five other people also didn’t have rooms so I should not complain. After four hours of talking to different staff and being told to wait, we were given a room at the Ark, begrudgingly. By the time we finally arrived it was 5pm (we arrived at noon at check-in), so half the day was gone. The room was small and the floors were dirty. Book at Tree Tops instead. I stayed there before, and it was a womderful experience-also located over a saltlick in the Aberdares and their rooms are beautful/clean and all are directly overlooking wildlife.…Booked this accommodation for a birthday weekend to see elephants. A nice place to stay for the night! The 'suites' are nice and big, and everything was clean. Staff were friendly, and the breakfast in the morning was reasonably quick, and good. The room was completely quiet - some noise with barking dogs outside, and from people walking around in the corridors and banging doors, etc. But mostly quiet. Location is convenient. Would recommend!…
