The Ark is a very cosy, wooden lodge. Fire lit in the lounge area which was welcome as it was very cold at night (early Oct) Staff provided hot water bottles for our beds which was a lovely touch The buzzer system at night is a novel experience and of course we responded by getting up in the night. They made us feel incredibly welcome despite our very late arrival. The waterhole, good and service are great and this has been our experience in Kenya so far. Love the overnight buzzer system which alerts you based on number of buzzes as to which animals have arrived at the waterhole The Ark needs new windows and the shower takes a while to warm up. It is cozy though with the big log fire and the thoughtful provision of hot water bottles at night. Definitely worth staying at least one night. The Ark is nestled in the middle of the forest. As promised, animals come to the watering hole which you can view from balconies on each floor. We saw elephants, buffalos and baboons.
