Hampton by Hilton Utrecht Central Station

10/10 Excellent

"I liked how it was beside the train station and the shopping mall. Very convenient."

NH Utrecht

8/10 Good

"The property was perfectly fine and in a great location just outside of the train station and close to a taxi stand and public transportation hub. Check-in and out were quick and painless, and they held my luggage for me on the last day. The convenience store in the lobby was a nice touch, and though I didn't eat at the restaurant other colleagues at the event said it was pretty good. The room was enormous and the armchair and reading lamp were a great touch as was the big, full-sized wall mirror. The water in the shower was hot and they had good counter space around the sink for toiletries. The wifi was free but a little slow and glitchy while the closest outlet to a mirror for hair tools was on the other side of the room. Inconvenient, but survivable. However, the room was only superficially clean (with white curtains that had no chance of hiding how filthy they were) and in the 10cm wide nook between the mirror and the wall was a whole pile of dirt and hair, presumably because it was too small to roll the vacuum into. Also, the room was an okay temperature in the day but absolutely freezing in the evening and overnight. I tried turning up the temperature on the wall thermostat but it made no difference. I piled the duvets from both beds on top of me in order to stop shivering. At home, I keep my bedroom at 16/17 degrees for sleep which is what is comfortable for me (I'm from the north!), so it was measurably colder than that even with the thermostat set to 22."

Hotel Theater Figi

8/10 Good

"The location is co venue by. Beautiful neighborhood. Free parking at "Slot-Zeist" the parking at the hotel is €20 per night. Spacious rooms. They offer coffee or tea in the room. On the negative side, I forgot my boots in the room. I called the hotel the following day and the boots were not brought to the lost and found area of the hotel by the cleaning staff. Pity!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Darthuizen?

The best area to stay in Darthuizen is near the town centre, particularly around the Dorpsstraat and Kerkplein.

This central area is the heart of Darthuizen, offering a pleasant mix of local shops, eateries, and historical architecture. The Dorpsstraat is the main street, lined with traditional Dutch buildings, and leads directly to the Kerkplein, where you'll find the impressive Oude Kerk. It's a very walkable area, making it easy to explore on foot.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate this area. It provides a peaceful setting with opportunities for leisurely strolls, enjoying local cuisine, and visiting nearby attractions like the Darthuizen Castle ruins (Kasteel Darthuizen). The proximity to the canal also offers pleasant waterside walks.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, staying near the town centre also provides easy access to the surrounding countryside. There are numerous cycling and walking paths that branch out from the village, great for exploring the picturesque Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.

When is the best time to go to Darthuizen?

The best time to visit Darthuizen is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the natural beauty is at its peak.

During spring, you'll find the countryside around Darthuizen bursting with colour as flowers bloom, particularly the famous Dutch tulips in nearby fields. Temperatures are mild, making it ideal for outdoor activities like cycling or walking along the many trails. This period is superb for couples looking for scenic strolls and a relaxed exploration of the area's natural attractions.

Early autumn offers similarly comfortable temperatures and fewer crowds. The changing leaves create a beautiful backdrop for exploring the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park, which is right on Darthuizen's doorstep. This season is well-suited for those who enjoy hiking and experiencing the peaceful landscape without the peak summer rush.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be busier, and temperatures might be warmer.
