This home has lots of updates but also historic charm. It was very clean, and the backyard is a great setup. We loved the cozy den space. Our group consisted of several female adults. Keep in mind that there are only 2 full bathrooms even though there are lots of beds. There is a half bath downstairs. Communication was excellent. Only slight downside is this neighborhood is in a very transitional phase as I write this. We never felt unsafe, but there are definitely some eyesores, and there were construction workers smoking tons of cigarettes in nearby yards which put a slight damper on our hot tub and outdoor time. No stock of propane or fuel for any of the marketed outdoor kitchen for actual use. However, it is lovely. Very beautiful property. Grateful for the stay. We had two children and six adults. The house was great. Backyard was the hit of our stay. Nice small pool the kids loved. Covered area with a tv and couches. Grill, cornhole game, etc. the inside was very nice and well stocked. We of course bought our food, but things like a reasonable amount of toilet paper, coffee, some spices, trash bags etc were already there. Big area on the main floor for whatever you want to do. Great tvs. The only drawback was only 2 1/2 bathrooms and one was very small so we basically all showered in one bathroom. However I would recommend this house to any family. Just realize it is in an area that is being re-gentrified so their are some low apartments and houses around you as well as some nice places. ##### David C. The pool is a lovely touch but it does have hornets and yellow jackets nesting all around the back yard and in the border of the pool. They fly out of the waterfalls when you turn them on and they stung two of our guys. They were not happy about that. The house is quite lovely but the showers were all cold and they did not warm up. I will start with that. So, when I read the heading of "luxurious Dallas Property" I thought how bad can it be? That title has since been removed from the listing. The neighborhood did not feel safe or well kept. When I arrived at the property (shortly after the owner had claimed to be there prepping the house for me), there was a patio door wide open upstairs. Okay....maybe the wind blew it open. We proceeded to go inside the house and found it FREEZING cold in there. The thermometer read 55 degrees. Yes I know this is Texas but that is not where I would set a thermostat for my guests. Not a deal breaker though....keep going. We kept going to the kitchen where we found the counters to be dirty and the fridge not plugged in or cold. Yes, I know how to plug a fridge in. But I had groceries in the car that needed to be cold. Why unplug it to begin with? Okay moving on to the backyard....probably the part that I was most looking forward to. Two small pieces of firewood in the fireplace- wouldn't make a fire. Bar top was dirty (even though the owner claims he had just blown off the back porch). The pool and spa were freezing cold. Couldn't have gotten in if we wanted to. Owner claims that it heats up in 15 mins but I have a heated pool and that is never the case. Nevermind the fact that I didn't see a switch or instructions on how to heat it up. A few other things to keep in mind for this property- all bedrooms (not sleeper sofa) and showers are upstairs. Not terrible if you expect that. Finally- we decided to go to a hotel instead. Ultimately, just didn't feel safe and didn't think the property was as luxurious as the listing made it sound. So here is the fun part- I contacted the owner. Tried to call first and the voicemail says "text me i don't check VM." So we texted. He called back while I was checking in to the hotel and left a VM that said "I was told to call so I'm calling." He pretty much called us liars. Said he needed to go to the property and take video. Sent us a very nonchalant and disrespectful response to our complaints. And did not refund any portion of our money. He has not returned our calls or messages since. Very unprofessional. This property had several reviews and good ones. The house was so clean, decorated beautifully and in a nice quiet neighborhood. It has plenty of room to spread out with plenty of comfy beds. The highlight of this property is the backyard oasis! The pool and spa were amazing. It is pretty shaded most of the day which is perfect for those of us that burn easy. There is a phone inside where you can control turning on the spa heater, waterfall, lights, etc which is great. The patio has a huge grill, tv, fireplace with smoker, ceiling fans, tons of seating and places to eat. There is a small area of grass in the back perfect for our four legged friends. The hosts provide everything you might need-bug spray, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, swim towels, etc. the back yard is privacy fenced which is great! The neighborhood was so quiet and although there were a few run down looking properties on the block, we never felt unsafe and actually my kids left some of their things on the porch one night and no one messed with anything. There is a long covered driveway so your vehicles will not be on the street. The location was perfect for plenty of restaurants, Deep Ellum, Art District, etc. I can’t say enough great things about this property and have actually already started planning a girls trip back! ##### Leslie Y. Out back is a great hang out spot with a great kitchen setup and space for eating for everyone. Plenty of beds and separation to get away.
