How much does a beach hotel in Curtis Island cost?
Prices for beach hotels in Curtis Island vary, but you can find a great deal from £58 on Expedia. You're likely to find lower rates if you're travelling during the off-peak season or mid-week. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for our cheapest rates.
Which area of Curtis Island is best to stay in for beaches?
The best area of Curtis Island for beaches is the eastern coast, particularly around the townships of Southend and Settlement Point.

These areas offer direct access to the island's most expansive and attractive sandy shores. Southend, located at the island's southern tip on the eastern side, provides a good base with a cluster of holiday rentals and a general store. The beaches here are generally long and uncrowded, superb for those seeking tranquility.

For couples looking for a peaceful escape, these eastern coastal areas are ideal. You'll find opportunities for long walks along the beach, enjoying the natural environment without the hustle and bustle. The clear waters are also suitable for swimming during calm conditions, and the tidal flats reveal interesting marine life.

Families will also appreciate the space and relaxed pace of the eastern beaches. Children have ample room to play, build sandcastles, and explore the shoreline.
What is the best time of year to stay in a beach hotel in Curtis Island?
The most popular time to stay in a beach hotel on Curtis Island is during the Australian winter, from June to August. During these months, the weather is beautifully mild and dry, with average daily temperatures hovering around 22°C. This comfortable climate is superb for enjoying the island's pristine beaches, swimming in the ocean, or exploring the national park without the intense heat of summer.

For families, this period aligns perfectly with school holidays in many regions, making it a bustling time with plenty of activities geared towards children. You'll find the island's natural beauty at its best, with clear skies and calm waters ideal for snorkelling or spotting marine life. It's a fantastic time for outdoor adventures and making the most of the island's natural attractions.

Alternatively, May offers a wonderful shoulder-season experience that families might particularly appreciate. The weather remains very pleasant, with average temperatures around 25°C, providing excellent conditions for beach activities and exploration.

What beach activities should we do in Curtis Island?
The best beach activities on Curtis Island revolve around its pristine natural environment, with snorkelling, diving, and wildlife spotting being top choices.

For those who love exploring underwater worlds, the waters surrounding Curtis Island are ideal. The island is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, meaning there's an abundance of coral formations and diverse marine life just offshore. Snorkelling and diving excursions often depart from the main township of Southend, taking you to popular spots like the reefs near the north-eastern tip of the island. Many visitors enjoy spotting colourful fish, sea turtles, and even dugongs in these clear waters.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will appreciate the island's secluded beaches, great for a relaxing day. Head to the western side of the island for quieter stretches of sand, accessible by four-wheel drive or boat. Here, you can enjoy long walks, sunbathe, or simply take in the expansive coastal views. Pack a picnic, and you're set for a private day out.

Families will find the calmer waters around Southend suitable for younger children to paddle and play. The beaches here are generally sheltered, providing a gentler environment for swimming. There are also opportunities for beachcombing, looking for interesting shells, and building sandcastles.

Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy.
