About this property
Fall Lakefront | Trail Access, 2 Suites, Sleeps 8
Summary:
Directly on South Manistique Lake in Curtis, with panoramic water views from every room and a private beach. Fall turns the far shoreline gold and the lake reflects all of it. Walleye and perch fishing picks back up in cooler water, and Seney National Wildlife Refuge is 20 minutes away when the sandhill cranes stage for migration. Two master suites with private en-suites, a third bedroom, and a loft. 3 bedrooms, sleeps 8. Sled and UTV trails run from the property.
The Space:
Directly on South Manistique Lake in Curtis, with panoramic water views from every room, a private beach, and groomed snowmobile and UTV trails running right from the property. Two master suites with private en-suite bathrooms, a third bedroom, and a loft. 3 bedrooms, sleeps 8.
Fall on South Manistique is quiet in the best way. The hardwoods across the water turn late September through mid-October and the lake gives you the whole thing twice — once on the far shore and once on the surface. Cooler water turns the walleye and perch bite back on. The boats are gone. Mornings are glass.
Seney National Wildlife Refuge is 20 minutes away and October is the month to go: sandhill cranes stage there by the thousands before migration, and the wildlife drive is the easiest place in Michigan to see them. Tahquamenon Falls is a straightforward day trip, amber water framed in gold. And the firepit at the water's edge is where the day ends, in a sweatshirt, with the loons still working the far side of the lake.
3 bedrooms, sleeps 8. Built for groups who want the full Upper Peninsula experience in every season.

The Neighborhood:
Water's Edge sits directly on South Manistique Lake in Curtis, Michigan — a small UP town with everything you need steps away and some of the best lake country, wildlife, and wilderness access in the entire Upper Peninsula right outside the door.
RIGHT IN CURTIS
South Manistique Lake — on the property
Your private beach and dock put you directly on the water. South Manistique Lake is a serious fishing lake — walleye, bass, and pike — and one of the most peaceful places to spend a morning in the UP in any season.
Big Manistique Lake — 5 minutes
One of the largest and most beautiful inland lakes in the Upper Peninsula. Bring the boat, rent a pontoon, or spend a day fishing, swimming, and exploring the shoreline of one of the UP's premier lake destinations.
Curtis Village — 2 minutes
Everything you need is right down the road. Grab a pasty, stock up on supplies, find a sled shop for winter gear, and experience the genuine small-town UP charm that guests come back for every year. The Erickson Center for the Arts is also worth a stop — one of the UP's best cultural venues, right in the heart of Curtis.
WITHIN 35 MINUTES
Seney National Wildlife Refuge — 15 to 20 minutes
One of the most pristine wilderness refuges in the Midwest and a short drive from the cabin. The 7-mile Marshland Wildlife Drive winds through wetlands, open water ponds, and old-growth forest — bald eagles, trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, osprey, loons, moose, and black bears are common sightings. You can also kayak and canoe the Manistique River through the heart of the refuge for one of the most serene paddling experiences in the UP.
Kitch-iti-kipi (The Big Spring) — 30 to 35 minutes
Michigan's largest freshwater spring and one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in the Midwest. An emerald-green pool 200 feet wide and 40 feet deep, with water so clear you can see straight to the limestone bottom. A self-operated glass-bottom raft carries you across the spring where giant lake trout drift below your feet. Open year-round — magical in every season and one of those places that stops you in your tracks every time.
Tahquamenon Falls State Park — 35 minutes
Home to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls — the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi River, with Niagara the only one larger. Over 200 feet wide and 48 feet tall, the falls run amber-colored from the tannins of the surrounding cedar forest. The Lower Falls, just 4 miles downstream, offer rowboat rentals and smaller cascading falls that feel like a natural water park. One of the true must-sees of the UP and only 35 minutes from the cabin.
WORTH THE DRIVE
Oswald's Bear Ranch — 45 minutes
The largest bear-only sanctuary in the United States. Four spacious natural habitats where rescued black bears roam freely, plus the chance to have your photo taken with a bear cub. A genuine family favorite and one of the most unique wildlife experiences in Michigan.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore — 90 minutes
The UP's crown jewel. Kayak beneath towering sandstone cliffs, hike to Chapel Falls and Miners Beach, or take a boat tour along the Lake Superior shoreline. A full-day trip from the cabin that most guests say is the highlight of their entire UP visit.
