Wonderful Central Citrus Location! Looking for a quick get away? Snowbird? We have just the place for you! How about a longer term rental for temp workers? Or maybe you are looking for a bit of nature? Well you found it! Road bike trails, kayaking, tubing, swimming with manatees, mountain biking (well hills...), just a quiet day at the local springs. They don't call this area the "Nature Coast" for nothing! Our home is on a very private 2.5 acres with amazing views. Don't be surprised to see a fox trot by, a large owl spying down on you, a bobcat sneaking by or maybe a turkey or two. This is true rural Florida. The space contains one bedroom, furnished with a queen bed. Living-room has a large sectional sofa and TV. Kitchen is a "kitchenette", small but does what you need it to. Full size fridge and range, microwave, and sink. All you need to enjoy simple meals at home, nice dishes along with basic pots and pans. If you are visiting friends and family in Citrus Hills, Black Diamond, Beverly Hills, Lecanto or anywhere in the county, we make a great meeting spot. We are centrally located, right in the middle of county. Many conveniences are close at hand, Walmart is one mile from the house, its a safe 20 minute walk if you chose. Publix is 2.5 miles to the east. Within walking distance is a a mom/pop burger spot; a sushi restaurant that also serves traditional Japanese, Thai, and Chinese; a Wawa, Wendy's and McDonalds; and a small park and multi-use paved bike trail. The apartment is below our main home. You have a separate entrance and total privacy. That's why its called the "Down Under"! If you find the dates you are interested in are not open, please check our other rental "Fern Hill Inn" VRBO #2421384\. The enclosed porch provided a welcome spot for a bit of personal respite, whether to chat on the phone, catch up with email, or just have a lemonade. Lots of cozy areas to relax and get lost in or do a little work if needed. Our visit was unfortunately too short to enjoy much of it but hope to be back at some point. Oh and communication with the owner was great: quick, easy and fast responses. Thanks for the hospitality. Only suggestion is to maybe air out the place a bit or leave some windows open felt a little stuffy. And maybe I missed it but some tea and a teapot would be a great addition. The goal of our stay was to relax with no agenda and enjoy celebrating our 52nd anniversary! That is exactly what we did. The quiet peaceful setting was much needed and the beautiful decor so tastefully appointed made our stay even more comfortable. Getting in after dark was a little challenging since we could'nt see the address well, but we did it! Thanks to our gracious hosts for providing such a lovely place to rest and restore. We loved all the restaurant recommendations. We would definitely suggest this lovely place to friends and family. Superb! Wow! What a warm, welcoming, well-equipped, wonderful place! I have been traveling to Lecanto for over 20 years and have stayed in literally dozens of properties. The Down-Under was the pinnacle of all those experiences. The host was, by far, the most professional, accommodating, and caring I have dealt with. The house was exquisite - just as described, perfect location, amenities to spare. Everything was flawless upon arrival and the host was very helpful throughout my stay. The home was more beautiful and comfortable than I had hoped. I was visiting family in the area and I felt like I was at home. The house was exceptionally clean and extremely well stocked. It started way before we entered the property with Linda's prompt responses to questions I asked. Next were the detailed directions that were easy to follow. It continued when we arrived to find breakfast food to get us started the next morning and items in the bathroom that we might have forgotten. We met Linda the third morning we were here. She wanted to know what else we needed, including ideas of activities, directions, anything in the Treehouse. Her primary goal was to assist us in having the best vacation! The location is perfect with quick access to many of the local towns. It is clean, comfy, and roomy. It felt like home to us. The final attention to detail was on the morning we left. It was Valentine's Day. We found a special treat on our car. Tim and Linda didn't miss any opportunity to make this one special vacation! My husband and I were amazed by the beautiful nature, biking opportunities, and peacefulness the Down Under had to offer. Linda and Tim were so easy to work with and super responsive to our needs. Whether it was information about local attractions/dining or help with the ethernet cable, Linda and Tim were easy to communicate with and so helpful. My husband was working remotely and had no issues with the internet. The beautiful touches in the Down Under were just as pictured. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and new, kitchen was small but had a newer refrigerator/freezer and everything we needed to make meals. The outdoor porch was a true highlight for us! We ate meals, played board games and just sat in nature and relaxed often. There is even a grapefruit tree which Linda said we could pick from if we wanted. The grapefruits are delicious! There were breakfast items when we arrived and an attached garage with a newer washer and dryer that I used often. We also stored our bikes in the garage and used the Withlacoochee trail nearly daily (we so miss that trail!!!). We are from Wisconsin and had a fabulous outdoor experience and really nice weather for Feb and March in Florida...the cherry on top:-) We loved the Down Under and are hoping to return. Trotzdem ist man innerhalb einer Meile mitten in der Zivilisation und hat alle Läden die man braucht.
