Nice little cottage. Felt like it’s where a winemaker would kick their feet up at the end of the day, looking out on the mountains a sipping on a Pinot noir.
Great hosts !!!! Cottage was right in the middle of a well manicured Vineyard. Beautiful gardens and fruit trees. We had a glass of wine or wine tasting each evening with the hosts . What a wonderful stay. Plus they have hot tubs to rent
It was fabulous - extremely well equipped kitchen, private, quiet. The cottage had many extras that you usually do not find in a rental property. Has private yard, BBQ, jacuzzi tub, oven, full size frig, Nespresso, everything we wanted and more. Hosts are very nice and extremely helpful and accommodating. Excellent stay in everyway.
Jan and Graeme were great hosts. Unfortunately, we missed the wine tasting on the first night, however were pleasantly surprised when we attended our second night. Great discussions and selection of wines. The room was very cosy and secure with everything we needed and the BBQ was great for what we needed. Indulged in a spa on site and again were impressed by the property. Would definitely go back.
We had a great stay and felt very welcomed right from check-in. Incredible accommodation that we would highly recommend. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The breakfast included was amazing, and there were numerous other complimentary snacks which was a nice touch.
Fabulous location in the middle of a vineyard. Excellent property and everything we needed was provided. The cottages are lovely and the bonus of free wine tastings made us feel very welcome.
Best place we have stayed at in the South Island.
The room was clean and very quaint! The owners were very nice and gave interesting insight into the wine making process in the valley. They made us feel right at home, and even gave us a few pieces of amazing fruit they had picked that day! The tasting they offer is a must-try; they’re doing things with wine nobody else is, and it works! The hot pools are also a fantastic way to relax after a long hike! The glass room in the olive grove feels like a portal directly to the Tuscan countryside!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
I suggest checking the accommodation website directly prior to booking. Things I was not made aware of when booking through Expedia are that the grape vines have been removed (all except two rows) and use of the hot pools are open to the public and at an additional expense.
Pros
- Staff were lovely
- Cottage was large and very comfortable for a multiple day stay
- in room spa bath was lovely
- hot pools and wine were exceptional
- close to shops etc
Cons
- on a main road, not as secluded as pics make it out to be
- cottages are close together (not really private)
- hot pools cost additional (and not cheap) / no discount offered for guests
- cheese platter as part of hot pool package was packaged lunch snack form supermarket
- wine tasting is not discounted for guests
- subdivision works are happening and vines are gone so feel of venue is not what I expected / you are looking at a lot of dirt/fencing
This is made clear on website but unfortunetley Expedia needs to update their accommodation details to reflect product better.
One of the highlights of our NZ tour. Immaculate, well equipped room with kitchenette and sofa seating, large bathroom, private verandah with BBQ and table/chairs for wonderful evening meals overlooking vines. Hosts very welcoming and responsive. Beautiful property and gardens.
The town of Cromwell is not that interesting, but if you have value for your money, this is a great place. Truly deluxe, with wine tastings each night, a great hot tub/spa, and very relaxing atmosphere. 30-40 minutes to Wanaka and the mountains.
This is a gorgeous place to stay. The view over the vineyards to the mountains is beautiful, the owners are really friendly, the wine is good, and you’re close to amazing places to eat. The room was lovely, well fitted out with everything you might need. Breakfast was a really nice touch, with local fruit juices and preserves.
There are other wineries, and the rest of Central just a short walk or drive away. I can’t speak highly enough of River Rock Estate. Such a lovely weekend.
Wonderfully equipped and comfortable room. It was easy to access the 4 Barrel Walking tour and sample the local wines. The kitchen and BBQ were meticulous and it was terrific to cook our own dinner and enjoy it with the wonderful River Rock sauvignon blanc from grape vines growing right outside our room! Perfect place to stay.
The unit was beautifully situated overlooking the vines. It was spacious, extrememly clean and the service was impeccable. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The spa was a great experience.
