"My husband and I took our 4 grandkids (ages 7-17) for a 3 night adventure. Check in was smooth and the house has everything you need. I was pleasantly surprised by the coffee provided (Tim Hortons, my favorite) as well as the additional condiments for cooking. The home is located amongst the pines and the kids loved the cowboy pool and hammocks while my husband and I enjoyed the deck overlooking the back yard, we even enjoyed a visit by a deer one morning. We had plenty of space and the entire home was clean and comfortable. Communication was speedy when we had questions. We enjoyed the stay and would absolutely book again when in the area."

"The hotel had minimal amenities but it was very clean and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. They had sausage biscuits and some other frozen breakfast stuff, but no continental breakfast. I would definitely be more than willing to stay there again."

"We had an amazing stay! The A-frame cabin is even better in person-clean, cozy, and full of character. Sitting out on the deck in the evening watching the storm clouds roll in while the cabinglowed from the inside was one of the highlights of our trip. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for.The location was great for exploring the area. We spent our days visiting Bastrop, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Gas Station, fishing, and checking out the local towns before coming back to relax here each night.The hosts did a great job, andeverything was exactly as described. If you're looking for a unique, relaxing place to stay, we highly recommend it.We'd definitely come back!"

"This was our 4th stay at the shire cottage, and it’s always amazing! Jim and his family make you feel welcome, while also giving you the space to explore the property’s many trails. We typically come for events like Sherwood Forest Faire, or the Bastrop trail of lights, but we tried it out in the summer this year. Amazing again! Picnic at South Shore Park on Lake Bastrop, hike Bastrop State Park, sip and shop Smithville and downtown Bastrop, or just sit on the back porch of the cottage. There are plenty of fun ways to fill the day."
