Value for money

Posted 06-May-2017
A small but comfortable room with an extensive view over the sea. After a very disappointing stay at a more expensive hotel in Gunnislake two days previously I arrived with some trepidation but I needn't have worried! The pool, spa and sauna were an added bonus and as with the wi-fi (for which I had expected a charge)was free. I would certainly stay here again, especially as the town and its establishments have been 'tarted up' and some of the negative elements discouraged.

Nice hotel close to the beach and in towncenter.

Pros: I loved the location of the hotel. My room had lovely sea views and there are many restaurants and shops around, plus beautiful beaches to explore.
Very nice hotel in the towncenter of Newquay, close to several beaches: Great Western Beach, Tolcarne Beach and Newquay, all within walking distance.

Faded Edwardian charm - big room with amazing view

Posted 08-Apr-2017
Less than £90 /night for 3 ;breakfast elsewhere; good value. Not a super modern box hotel; characterful. The location , overlooking the beach near to Newquay station, was great for us. We enjoyed the pool and sauna- clean and warm ,very old fashioned . We would go back to this hotel.

Old hotel in good location

Posted 27-Feb-2017
Pros: Excellent Wi- Fi. Central Location. Friendly staff.
Cons: Rooms need updating. More plug sockets in rooms.
Location: Central. Tesco directly opposite. Everything in walking distance.
I have stayed here 3 times when on business. Good central location with everything in easy walking distance. However, you have to pay for parking here as the car park is owned by a separate company. The rooms are old and I always find that there is only one plug socket in each room! Never anywhere near the bed. Rooms vary in size and warmth. Always adequately clean although it is an old building so has the usual 'age spots.' Central heating, good showers and shower pressure. Excellent Wi Fi connection in all rooms, which is important to me. I have never used the restaurant so cannot comment on the food. The swimming pool is small but OK. Fairly clean and there is a jacuzzi also. Adequate hotel with nice, helpful staff.

Spacious rooms, there are plenty of facilities such as the swimming pool, which I used once. Old hotel but well maintained. Was annoying that there was a large car park around the back but it is privately owned and so you have to pay £5 to park there per day even if you are with hotel. Not a problem in Winter when there are plenty of free parking spaces around but would be a nightmare in the Summer time.

It is in a great location, easy walking distance to every where. The breakfast was lovely. Rooms not massive but fine for the price.

Central, convenient, vintage with all modern kit

Posted 15-Dec-2016
Pros: Warm comfortable bed.
Cons: Some areas might benefit from brighter lighting, eg daylight LEDs
Location: Central in Newquay, good for functions.
Classic hotel with modern conveniences. Victorian ambience and style.
