DON'T STAY HERE
If you are riding the El chepe train do not use this hotel. After checking in, I was asked for a $100.00 peso cash deposit for the keys and would get it back when I checked out. I thought it was kind of strange but didn't question it. Check in is located inside the souvenir shop located on the corner beneath the hotel. I asked if shuttle service was provided to the train station and they stated no but that we could walk to it. We were told to walk down the side street about half a block and would see the hotel, They did not put us where the hotel was located and it was kind of scary especially when we were approached by two pan handlers in the unnamed hotel parking lot. They let after giving them a few pesos and as we began to climb the stairs there was a commotion and saw several persons chasing someone right in front of us. I can only assume one of the bottom room was broken into. We quickly rushed and got inside our very small room and did not leave it. The Train leaves in the morning at 7:30 am and we had to be there around 7am to check in the luggage etc. Since we had to walk to the station we went to check out around 6:45am and found the store closed and no where to leave the keys and get the deposit back. i kept the keys and returned two days later and asked for the deposit but they rudely refused saying I should have left them in the room."Really" then how do you get the deposit back? it seems to me this is a scam to keep the deposit and bad practice.
