The hotel was on the edge of a small town which you could walk out the door and immediately be surrounded by beautiful architecture. The room was spacious and bed comfortable. We liked having a balcony to set onto to enjoy the big lawn, pool in the distance and the view beyond . Breakfast was excellent buffet . Fatima and Luis were helpful on reception. The two dinners were (3 different meals sea bass, chicken, squid ) were all disappointing. I liked the character of the property and that proceeds help others .

Very nice. Location was convenient. Near the highway but totally quiet and set back. Staff very nice and helpful. Room was a little beat up with older carpet that spots where it was popping up off the floor and same for the wall paper on the closet doors. Dinner service was excellent, but the fish was dry and tasteless, sorry to say. Overall, i would stay again at this oasis.

A very nice hotel with friendly staff
Lovely 3 night stay with very friendly & helpful staff throughout the hotel. Plenty of delicious breakfast items. Very large & comfortable bed & plenty of storage space. Two slight negatives, firstly, I missed having a kettle or coffee machine in the room & secondly, the only notification we had that the pool was closed was on the day of arrival which was very disappointing as the weather was hot during our stay. Overall though a very nice hotel.

There aren't many TV channels and this time some were not working among other problems with the tv and they took some time to fix it. The water also doesn't flow very well probably because they want to save money so it gets hard to use the sink and sometimes you need to use the shower instead. The bathroom furniture is damaged and needs to be replaced as well as the carpets and beds smell and are outdated. The breakfast is not served very well either, it is difficult to collect food or food is not well preserved while in the room. This hotel is not worth the money they ask for.

Fantastic hotel
Wonderful hotel on the way to Compostela. We are an Australian couple & used to staying in 5+ Star hotels in Australia & Asia. Our meal in the restaurant was disappointing. The chef needs advice on how to prepare simple things like Minestrone that was more like a mushroom consommé. The octopus was gritty as if it hadn’t been washed properly & the lamb rack was raw & needed more cooking. The creme brûlée was not as smooth as it should be & the egg wasn’t incorporated properly. I’m a fussy foodie 😬 Apart from that, the hotel could stand comfortably on an international stage.

A nice hotel that we would stay in again. Meals were good though the service was a bit haphazard but nothing to be upset about. Just overworked waiting staff. Reception staff was extremely good.

Smart, remote hotel near Coimbra
Smart, comfortable hotel, free parking. Marvellous outdoor, unheated swimming pool set in a large, beautifully tended lawn. Location - 2 and a half miles from the terrific Conimbriga Roman ruins. About 10 miles outside Coimbra which is worth visiting. Nothing much in local Condeixa village. Hotel has changed ownership and title in the last couple of weeks. Several new inexperienced staff.

It is true that we have changed our name and concept but our team is the same with normal staff entries when warranted. Our hotel strives for tranquility. We are 10 minutes from the center of Coimbra allowing us to be a different place, away from the biggest confusion of the city center. Next to the hotel, besides Conimbriga, there is the PO.RO.S museum, which was recently considered the best multimedia museum in Europe. Also fifteen minutes away is the Universalist Ecumenical Temple (unique in the world) and the Serra da Lousã Biological Park. A few more kms away is the wonderful village of Xisto do Gondramaz. History, great staff and comfort
Condexia is a nice town to stop at. The vibrant square is 5 mins walk from hotel with many amenities and a nice feel to it. The hotel is lovely and an interesting piece of history. The pool is fab and restaurant good too, especially the breakfast. Staff awesome. We had an amazing deck, see if you can get a corner room on the same floor as reception for this.

We were surprised by the fact that the Pousada wasn't actually in the city of Coimbra. I guess we didn't do our homework. As it turns out, it is close to Conimbriga (site of Roman ruins) that we wanted to visit. So it turned out just fine. Only wish the room had had a coffee and tea maker. Pousada personnel, at the front desk, were very helpful, enhancing our stay.

Excellent Stay
The place was much better than what I expected. The room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the garden. It was in a quite and charming neighborhood where we walked at night. The hotel has an elegant restaurant serving nice food. The room was comfortable and clean. The staffs were all friendly with the lady at front desk on our departure date the most helpful. I lost my electric convertor, which was devastating given we relied on our cell phones, and she found me one. She saved us one day. If were not her, we would be spending time looking around without any idea where to find one. We are extremely grateful.

relaxing stay
easily reached, out of town but near the roman ruins whichis what we had most interest in. Wish we had been there during warmer weather so we could have used the pool. It was beautiful.

Well worth the stay!
What a unique experience, staying in a castle. The hotel has all the amenities you could want, room service, restaurant, bar/cafe, garden areas, a tower to explore and more. there is plenty of free parking and Wifi worked very well from our room. Breakfast was a wonderful buffet, but an extra charge per person. The town is samll, but walking the castle walls is very interesting. Well worth the stay on the way to Segovia.

Enjoyable Experience
Room was very nice and clean. We thought the staff were friendly and helpful. Thought the breakfast was not as nice as we have experienced at other paradors in Spain and Pousada in Portugal. I think part of the problem is that there were insufficient help in the dining room. However, we enjoyed the stay and would stay again.

relax in the hills
A historic and luxury pousada in the hills near Roman ruins of Conimbriga. The staff are helpful and efficient, chef excellent and wait staff very pleasant. Antique style furnishing, 16C building with lawns to pool and scenic.views make this a perfect stay.

First class accomodations ! The perfect place for a romantic night. The grounds are gorgeous and the view is spectacular. ! It felt like we were staying in a private estate with only a few guests around us.

Charming setting, friendly staff, delicious food
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay @ the Pousada Condeixa a Nova. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and had a lovely balcony which overlooked the pool and the surrounding countryside. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They let us check out several hours late, which gave us time to visit the nearby ruins of Conimbriga on our last day. The pousada is also just 15 minutes from Coimbra, and the staff gave us tips on the best way to go there. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. In addition, we purchased half pension and had dinner @ the pousada. We had two fantastic dinners, one of grilled sea bass, sublime honey dew melon soup with bacon bits, and passion fruit cheesecake. We liked the restaurant and staff so much, we also had lunch there our last day. I had an amazing shrimp cocktail served in papaya, and my husband had a very tasty mushroom omelette. We had a light and excellent pineapple- strawberry Bavarian cream for dessert.

Comfortable hotel, service not great
The hotel is very comfortable (room and public areas). We had a room with a balcony overlooking the garden, get one of those if you can. This should be a really lovely hotel, but there were just never enough staff on duty. Those who were there were helpful and worked very hard but occasionally looked flustered. The same staff appeared to run the reception, restaurant and bar. One morning there was very little food out for breakfast, and the one person on duty was unable to deal with this as he was setting up tables. The staff were friendly, but seemed to lack anyone in charge.

Base for visiting Roman archaeological site nearby
This Pousada is not an historic building but rather an upscale motel near the main autoroute. It is conveniently located for auto access to visit the Roman ruins at Condeixa, or slightly further, the historic city of Coimbra. This Pousada is not a desrination hotel in itself.

Quiet hotel away from towns
We drove but took a taxi to Coimbra to see the University due to the distance and lack of other public transportation. Very close to the Roman ruins! Ate dinner in the restaurant. Convenient. Good but not outstanding food. Ambience was a not to comfortable with people speaking in hushed tones.
