Spokane is a city in Washington State, within the green and vibrant Pacific Northwest region of the US. Bounded by the Spokane river, it’s situated at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with the Pacific Ocean to its west. Pullman, is a 75-mile drive by rental car from Spokane. The city is home to Washington State University, injecting it with a vibrant, youthful atmosphere. Key attractions include the university campus, set within pleasant greenery and featuring the WSA Museum of Arts, the Palahouse Discovery Science Center, which includes a planetarium, and the Merry Cellars Winery, which is open to visitors.
Seattle, a city of bohemian, outdoor-loving and enterprising residents, is a 279-mile drive away. Key attractions include the legendary Pike Place food market, the artsy neighbourhood of Fremont with its cool coffee shops and offbeat public art, and the vibrant Capitol Hill, filled with restaurants, bars and music venues. Cultural and architectural highlights include the Space Needle, the Experience Project Music Museum, and the Seattle Art Museum.
With its abundance of mountains, forests and greenery, Washington State is scenic to drive through, although be careful in winter conditions. The US is right-hand drive and remember to keep an eye on your mirror, as drivers don’t always indicate a direction change.
