Accepted Answer

This will depend on the rental companies operating in Portage. They often have different age policies. Conduct some research into what those charges could be before picking up the keys to your vehicle.

Question 12

Can I drive in Portage with my current driver's license?

Accepted Answer

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in the U.S, then you might need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country before hiring a car in the U.S. If you find that an IDP is part of the requirements to drive in the U.S., be aware that you'll also have to show your current driver's license and your passport or other form of ID. Lastly, the credit card you used to hire the car must match the name on your driver's license and passport in order to finalize your car hire. Other things you should know about hire cars in the U.S. Are:

Age restrictions: You'll need to be 25 in many states in order to hire a car, although in some areas allow drivers as young as 21. We recommend checking local rules and regulations, as well as with the company you're hiring from before you go to understand all the regulations that may apply to you.
Driving limitations: Don't forget to read the fine print before you get behind the wheel so you can avoid any unnecessary fees. When hiring a car in the U.S, you typically can't cross country borders into Canada or Mexico, drive onto ferries or go off-roading with your car hire. Please read the details before booking!
