Where to stay in Comahue

Downtown Bariloche
Downtown Bariloche is popular for its lake views, and if you're looking for more to see and do, you might think about a trip to Civic Center Bariloche or Bariloche Casino.
Comahue
With snowy mountain towns, a rich indigenous Mapuche heritage and acres of fertile vine-planted fields, this Argentinian region is diverse and beautiful.
Located in the northern part of Argentinian Patagonia, Comahue includes the provinces of Neuquén and Rio Negro. Discover a lush green landscape, mountain towns, meandering rivers and an abundance of wineries and orchards.
Wander the tree-lined streets of Neuquén, the largest city in Patagonia. Marvel at the fine art on display in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Stroll to the Plaza de las Banderas, the highest point in Neuquén which can be seen from all over the city, and admire the unusual architecture of the Iglesia Catedral Neuquén. For a break from the city, take a tour to the region’s best outlying wineries, such as Fin del Mundo, Schroeder and NQN.
Go fly fishing in the gorgeous blue Limay River, which is said to be filled with many large trophy fish. Hike through San Martín de los Andes, an attractive village in the Andes Mountain range. Photograph the fairytale scenery and enjoy a meal of fresh trout or venison at one of the local cafés.
The forest-encircled mountain town of Aluminé makes a great base for outdoor adventurers who want to kayak along nearby rivers. In winter, head south to the picturesque mountain village of Villa la Angostura to find log cabins and around 20 miles (32 kilometres) of ski runs.
Step back in time at Villa El Chocón, also known as the “valley of the dinosaurs.” Fossilized remains of the giganotosaurus and a petrified forest were all found in this village in the early 1990s. The on-site museum gives visitors more information about these important historical findings.
Relax in the thermal baths of Caviahue-Copahue and enjoy a therapeutic treatment involving volcanic mud, water and vapours. Learn more about the native Mapuche people in Junin de los Andes, the oldest city in the province.
To get to Comahue, fly into Presidente Perón International Airport in Neuquén or take a long-distance bus from Buenos Aires. Expect a cold desert climate in cities like Neuquén, particularly between May and August, and warmer temperatures towards the Rio Negro region.
Comahue is a region blessed with gorgeous mountain towns, vast lakes and enticing ski resorts.
