Comahue

Located in the northern part of Argentinian Patagonia, Comahue includes the provinces of Neuquén and Rio Negro. Discover a lush green landscape, mountain towns, meandering rivers and an abundance of wineries and orchards.

Wander the tree-lined streets of Neuquén, the largest city in Patagonia. Marvel at the fine art on display in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Step back in time at Villa El Chocón, also known as the “valley of the dinosaurs.” Fossilized remains of the giganotosaurus and a petrified forest were all found in this village in the early 1990s. The on-site museum gives visitors more information about these important historical findings.

Relax in the thermal baths of Caviahue-Copahue and enjoy a therapeutic treatment involving volcanic mud, water and vapours. Learn more about the native Mapuche people in Junin de los Andes, the oldest city in the province.

To get to Comahue, fly into Presidente Perón International Airport in Neuquén or take a long-distance bus from Buenos Aires. Expect a cold desert climate in cities like Neuquén, particularly between May and August, and warmer temperatures towards the Rio Negro region.
