German Village is a historic neighborhood just south of downtown Columbus, OH. Initially platted in 1814 in Columbus' South End, German Village was generally developed between years 1840 and 1914. It was settled largely by German immigrants in the mid-1800s. German descendants at one time comprised as much as one-third of the population of Columbus. Restoration began in 1959 and the Historic District was established in 1963. German Village was the FIRST historic district in the U.S. and it remains a model for all that came after. In the year 1974, German Village joined the Historic Register. Today, more than 1,600 preservations have been completed.

Cute, authentic German Village cottage with all needed amenities. Owners were extremely accommodating. Location is right in the Village near the huge but wonderfully quaint bookstore, delicious coffee and good food.

Cute little property in a fantastic location! We walked to several restaurants, coffee shops and an outdoor market. It had everything we needed.
It was a bit complicated booking through Expedia so next time I’d go through Vrbo directly.
My wife and I needed a place to stay for the night on our way home from a trip, so we didn't get to experience the cool aspects of this area like we would have hoped to. But the place was perfect for us and our little Chihuahua. It was a neat little house and kept us warm and safe on a cold wintery night and morning. The host was responsive and kept us informed of everything we needed to know. We are older and have only used a VRBO twice now. The hosts made the process easy for us. The parking was good and right next to the house. I would love to return here and I highly recommend it to others.
What a lovely place! This home met our needs perfectly - especially being a pet friendly home. Our hosts were prepared to assist us immediately with any questions. Everything was as expected in a beautiful area of German Village. Thank you Jennifer and Michael.

Very clean and comfortable! Easy to contact hosts when needed and they were very wonderful to work with! Really enjoyed walking to restaurants and local attractions.
Our daughter graduated with her PhD from The Ohio State University, we needed a place to stay and she found us this great little house a couple blocks away from her apartment. It was the perfect location in German Village to walk to several boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. We would recommend this place
The space was a perfect fit for what we needed. Comfy, a parking space, and has a patio out back! You need a place in the heart of German Village this is your spot.
We were here for 2 days. The listing was perfectly located within a few minute's walk of an event we were attending. Ample dining opportunities were also just a few minutes walk. The free parking was off-street and very conveniently located in an adjoining parking lot. The facilities were comfortable, clean and well maintained. We were a bit confused about how the access code worked, and the hosts were extremely responsive to our text and promptly provided the guidance to get us in.
Initial communication was flawless. House was accommodating in every way. Couldn’t ask for a better location in Columbus. The host went above and beyond when I left my prescription glasses behind. Without hesitation, he wrapped them up and sent them to me. I’ll be booking with them in the future.
I was in town to visit a friend for the holiday weekend and was very happy with this location. The kitchen had everything I needed, the bathroom is impressively sized, and parking was extremely convenient. The bedroom is impressively large for this age of house, and the queen bed is a memory foam mattress while the twin is an innerspring. I loved being so close to a coffee shop, and it was easy to get lunch at katzinger's deli after checking out. If you're visiting with a dog, I recommend heading deeper into the neighborhood, East and South, for sidewalks with greenery. My bougie dog wouldn't relieve himself on the patio since it is completely bricked. My only small complaint is that the blinds in the bedroom were great for privacy but not blocking out light from the street at night. Nevertheless, it was surprisingly quiet after 11 pm.
We stayed in this historic yet modernized home in excellent location, everything within walking distance…we used the paved backyard for an Easter egg hunt for our grandson, I imagine in summer it is fantastic to hang out there!
My family and I had a great time staying here, and it was the perfect size for us. The location is exactly what you want in German Village—we could walk to everything! We loved grabbing coffee from Kittie's right around the corner and walking to famous spots like The Book Loft and Schiller Park. Scmidts restaurant is a short walk, Thurmans Cafe was an even shorter drive down the road. It was so easy to explore the neighborhood and feel completely safe doing so.When we wanted to venture out, the home's location was ideal. It's a quick drive to downtown attractions like COSI and some fantastic breweries as well as IKEA, Polaris and Easton Town Center. It gave us the best of both worlds: a charming, walkable neighborhood and easy access to the rest of Columbus.
We were in Columbus for a wedding arriving two days early and glad we did. What a great city and this rental was a great location. The listing was accurate, clean and the host was very responsive. Host had lots of snacks as we arrived late in day, which was very nice. German Village is a hidden gem where you can walk throughout the village for coffee, lunch, dinner or groceries. Quick access to highways and downtown.
Great location to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and many bakery’s and restaurants!! Katzingers deli, sausage haus,185 bar and restaurant, The book loft(huge and amazing!) and many more all within walking distance! The house is great, with a little fenced back yard. But no grass. But it is great neighborhood to walk your dog! You can hear traffic noise from the upstairs bedroom but it’s ok with some white noise.

German Town disappointed
We stayed at the quaint house , 2 nights with our 5 lb. Yorkie. We arrived an hour earlier than check in time. I called owner to see if we could check in early, which he approved. The cleaning staff was gone. The bed was not made. There was a load of bed linens in the dryer that were not dry. There was a load of towels in the washer. There were clean dishes in the dish washer. I took a shower because we had dinner reservations. There was no shower soap or hand soap in any of the dispensers. As we unpacked we realized there were long white dog hairs on the day bed, couch , and on the floors. I went to the store to buy shower gel. The owner called to ask if check in was Ok. I explained I had to buy soap and that the bed wasn’t made. He offered to reimburse me for the shower gel, but I refused. The bedroom was too light at night due to outside street lights. Also road noise until 2:00 am which started back up about 6:00am.
