Unwind with coffee or a glass of wine on the back deck, soak in the hot tub, or watch the snow fall through the trees through the windows beside the wood-burning stove. With a stunning spiral staircase, open-concept kitchen aspen log furniture, vaulted pine ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows, the Westwood Chalet will transport you to the mountain getaway of your dreams. The space The Westwood Chalet has three bedrooms (one queen, one king, one bunkbed with a queen on bottom and a twin on top) and a full bathroom on the lower level that is well-stocked with towels, shampoo, and conditioner. The living area has a smart TV, board games, and blankets as well as a pellet stove for cozy winter nights, and has a walk-out to the hot tub where you can enjoy a soak after a long hike or day of sightseeing. The kitchen is equipped with a full fridge, stove top, microwave, oven, coffee maker, and dishwasher, as well as pots and pans for cooking, and complimentary coffee, cream and sugar. Enjoy the views through the expansive two-story windows from the aspen log rocking chairs on the second level beside the wood-burning stove, or ascend the spiral staircase to the loft and master suite to enjoy the views from the third story landing. The stunning log dining table seats up to 8, with benches for additional seating, making it the perfect gathering place for meals or games. On the third level, the master suite has a king bed, sitting area, and a full bathroom equipped with towels, shampoo and conditioner. In warmer months, enjoy the back deck, complete with a propane fire pit, a charcoal grill, and Adirondack chairs and benches for soaking in the views and mountain sunshine. The chalet feels secluded and peaceful, but is conveniently located only a few minutes drive from Woodland Park, has high-speed Wi-Fi and strong cell phone service. Popular hikes such as the Crag’s Trail, Pancakes Rock, Rampart Reservoir, and Lovell Gulch are all within a 15-30 minute drive, while Mueller State Park, famous for wildlife and aspen groves, is only a short 15 minute drive away. Be sure to check out some of Colorado’s best fly fishing opportunities at Eleven Mile Canyon and Spinney Mountain State Park (1 hour drive), or fish, kayak, or bike around the trails around Rampart Reservoir (35 min drive). Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs are only 30 minutes away, where you can enjoy all the tourist attractions, such as the Pikes’ Peak highway, Garden of the Gods, the Manitou Incline, Cog Railway, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, the Broadmoor, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Airforce Academy, and so much more. If you want to venture further west for skiiing, the ski resort town of Breckenridge is about a 2 hour drive, or get a day pass at Monarch Montain (2 hour drive). In the summer, you can easily make a trip to Buena Vista, where you’ll find white water rafting, OTV trails, 14er hiking, and more (1 hour drive). Guest access You will have access to the entire chalet. Other things to note The Westwood Chalet sits at almost 8,000 feet elevation. Make sure to stay hydrated to avoid altitude sickness. The neighborhood is right off Highway 24 and the last five minutes of the drive are on well-maintained dirt roads that are plowed in the winter by Teller County. The driveway is steep but faces south, allowing snow to melt quickly. \*NOTE: The chalet has a wood spiral staircase and this is the only way to access all three levels of the house. Sitting in vehicles about 2 hours after check in host finally tells us the stay has been cancelled due to a broken heater! We have over 8 people and 4 babies all traveled from out of town! Stayed 5 nights in Jul 2025 ### 4/10 Poor #### Drea 4 Nov 2025 Liked: Location Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy My family and I along with two of our friends rented this cabin for a weekend getaway. We had just laid our sister to rest who had passed of suspicious circumstances. We wanted a chance to relax and grieve amongst each other in a peaceful setting. It is very unfortunate that we were met with such a disappointing stay. I want to preface my statements by saying the host was always polite in his communication although it was delayed. The house is not being maintained to the VRBO standard I am accustomed to. I am not sure if the host pays for cleaning or property management services, or if he manages these aspects directly, but if he does pay for services I believe he is entitled to some sort of refund and by extension myself. He did warn of HVAC issues and not being able to have them rectified as stated in similar review but informed he would refund us one night if we experienced any types of issues with the heat. We did, and later found the thermostat wasn’t working because it required new batteries which we went ahead and purchased and installed. The kitchen and other areas of the house needed deep cleaning. We were able to clean the stove and hood which had a lot of dust and grim. There was blood stains on the one of the basement beddings which we were able to get out with a wash. We also noticed many other items either broken or not in working order. I hope these things can get addressed as the property has so much potential. It is very disappointing. ![We saw many items like this around the house that were broken. I am unsure if the host was even aware of most of them. I suggest taking photos. We should’ve known to not even check in when we had to ask for the check in details at check in time and have VRBO contact the host. The house was not cleaned. All the floors were sticky and dust was everywhere. We had to rewash all the dishes before using them. The “clean” towels were folded up wet and required rewashing. The table was sticky. Clearly, no one had cleaned this property, as further evidenced by the condom wrapper referenced in an earlier review still being present (photo attached).The HVAC system did not work at all. We reached out to the host and he said he would try to get someone out, but never did. The spiral stairs are in poor condition and flex every time you walked up and down them. Listing was not accurate and did not include the VERY steep driveway that is not maintained and requires a high clearance vehicle. Not definitely not a driveway. You wanna be driving up for the first time in the dark. The house was not in great condition (broken doors, flooring issues and missing smoke detectors). Also, when messaging the host about whether or not HVAC was coming, he asked if a showing could take place because the home is on the market. We were not at all informed that the place we were staying in was on the market. Needless to say the answer was a definite no.This goes without saying, we highly do not recommend you stay at this place. Light bulbs out, door handles broken, closet door off, drive way in disrepair. The heating and AC units were not working. Although we did not need them the manager said they would have them repaired but never communicated further. I would not recommend this property in good conscience. Although I expressed these same issues upon departure the manager ignored my greivance in his response. ##### Steven S.
