Glen Eyrie Castle & Conference Center A Ministry of the Navigators
10/10 Excellent
"Glen Eyrie is an amazingly beautiful and serene experience as it sits amongst the incredibly majestic Garden of the Gods rock formations. Each of the lodges are next to the rocks that give off a pinkish-reddish-orange hue depending on the degree of sunshine, whether it is dawn or dusk, cloudy or fully moonlit. The rooms vary in size and some are located upstairs with windows and others are in the basement of the lodge buildings. If you are really fortunate, you would be in the actual outstanding castle that was built by the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer. Breakfast is gourmet buffet style with many chef-prepared hot delicious entrees and wonderful hot and cold pastries. Breakfast seating is either outside under the trees of the castle courtyard, or inside the elegant dining room. Each lodge has a full size shared refrigerator (replete with sticky tags that you use to label your items with your room number and check out date), a microwave and large ice maker. The grounds are simply sensational for walking with the meticulously manicured lawns, open-space wildflowers, and extraordinary hiking trails that traverse the nearly 800 acre site…both up high with great views, and among the lodges, trees and rock-lined waterway. Big horn sheep are commonly seen on the grounds as there are upwards of a few dozen of the majestic animals in the area. We had a fantastic time and felt very privileged to have been able to experience our wonderful stay!"
