The best area to stay in Colmen is the historic Old Town, known locally as Vieux Colmen.

This area is the heart of Colmen, characterised by its well-preserved mediaeval and Renaissance architecture, narrow cobbled streets, and colourful half-timbered houses. The main canal, often called the "Little Venice" area, runs through the centre, with the Fishmonger's District (Quai de la Poissonnerie) being a particularly picturesque spot. Most of the city's main attractions, such as the Bartholdi Museum and Saint Martin's Church, are easily reachable on foot.

Couples often find Vieux Colmen ideal for a romantic trip. The charming streets are superb for gentle strolls, and there are many intimate restaurants and wine bars where you can enjoy local specialities. Staying here means you're right in the middle of the city's unique architectural beauty and its culinary offerings.

For those looking for convenience and a slightly quieter stay while remaining central, the area just outside the immediate Old Town walls, particularly around the Avenue de la République, offers a good balance. You'll find modern hotels here, often with parking facilities, while still being a short walk from all the main sights.

The best time to visit Colmen is generally during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

Spring brings blooming flowers and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the countryside and enjoying outdoor activities. The vineyards are beginning to come alive, offering lovely scenery for walks or cycling. This is a great time for couples looking for a relaxed, scenic getaway without the peak season rush.

Autumn is another excellent period, with the vineyards showcasing beautiful golden and red hues, making it superb for photography and wine tasting. The weather remains mild, and the harvest season brings a special energy to the region.
