The location of the property is great. There is wonderful beach access and the large windows allow easy viewing of the sound. The Kitchen is well supplied with pots and pans.
If you are looking for a place to relax, have fun on the beach, boat, fish, crab, grill out, have a fire, play games, hike and have a bald eagle as your neighbor - yup - this location is for you.
We loved the location so close to the beach. It was quiet and peaceful, but there was also lots to watch out on the water. We particularly enjoyed watching the lights on the mainland and trains in the distance. The house is well outfitted. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay here again.
This was perhaps one of my favorite vacation stays EVER. It was a dreamlike setting… we would stand on the beach every morning, watching the sunrise in disbelief. My son kayaked out and set crab traps, and caught several huge ones! I cannot say enough good things, and my words fail to capture the essence of this property. We will be back, guaranteed.
My family of 5 adults relaxed at this cozy cabin right on the water. Great for senior citizens with a flat walking access to the beach just steps away from the nice big porch. We loved the very quiet, remote location with tons of nature & animal viewing. Woke up to the sound of eagles & seagulls cheering the morning sun over the water. A seal entertained us daily fishing for clams right in front of the house. Owners were very prompt & friendly in answering questions. House had everything we needed & was very cozy & comfortable.
We spent Labor day weekend at this lovely updated vintage cottage. The cottage is very well appointed for every imaginable vacation activity. It has a great use of space; loved the quiet little reading nooks!! My daughter caught her very first fish here (it was released, too small). We were there during a king tide and saw so many fish jumping out of the water. We filled out the boating waivers and my husband took the kids out one at a time in the row boat and they had a blast!!! So much fun!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!!!
Communication with owners were great. Location is secluded. We had so much fun fishing and crabbing. We fished two out of the four days we were there. We caught over a dozen fishes including salmons and released them. We used a 2.5 inch pink buzz bomb lure, switched hook to single barbless hook per regulations. We also caught about 2 dozen red rock crabs and 8 were legal size. We used a foldable crap trap and a crab snare and baited it with fresh cracked clams, herring one day and chicken leg on another day and manually casted it out. Let it soak for 15 minutes. We didn’t experience a bug infestation, saw a mosquito and a fly but it probably entered the house when we arrived the first night. Also it’s best if you arrive before dark as there are no street lights. Overall, it’s a 5 star in our books and would definitely consider going back.
Wonderful stay at Anchor Away! The home is situated perfectly with gorgeous water views from every room.We loved sitting in the cozy living room by the fireplace enjoying the water.Highly recommend for your next Whidbey Island adventure!
This is a great, slightly older cabin located directly on the Sound. Views are amazing! Wildlife viewing right from the back deck. The cabin has everything visitors could possibly need. Also, a great place to watch the Seahawks win Superbowl 60!
We highly recommend this VRBO. It was extremely clean and everything was exceptionally well stocked. There were even extra bathroom necessities, lots of games and videos (with an old school tv/vcr combo that our teens got a kick out of). The kitchen was very well stocked (including condiments in the fridge). We were hoping to make use of the kayaks, but it was cold and rainy so we never got out on the water. Very nice overall. Thank you for a pleasant experience!
This is a really sweet, historic beachfront cabin. It is set up with everything you need to make meals, relax, and enjoy the amazing scenery right outside every window. Hosts are real people, not some vacation rental investment firm. Communication was quick and easy. The location is unbeatable. Seals were a few yards off the beach throughout the day. A group of harbor porpoises cruised past. Eagles, owls, deer, and bunnies gave us something to look at behind the house. There is a good, groomed hiking trail at the state park a couple houses up the beach. You are a quick drive from the ferry dock, grocery store, and restaurants, but will feel very secluded. We started our mornings with coffee, sitting on a driftwood log on the beach and wound down our days with a beer by the beach fire pit. It doesn’t get more authentic PNW than this!
The location is amazing and is very quiet. The whole week we were there we probably saw less than 10 people around the area so it is quiet (which is what we wanted). About 15 minutes from the ferry, which you can even see sail from the house. The house is stocked with everything you can need. This place feels more like a home than a rental. We saw tons of rabbits, eagles, deer, and even an otter. And communication with the host was quick. I would think about coming back again.
We stayed here for a week and it was magical. We loved the quiet calm of the area. Other than the occasional boat passing we only saw other people 3 or 4 times the whole time we were there. We loved that it was right on the water and we often walked along the shoreline looking for rocks and shells. We also loved the deck on the back that faced the water. We had most of our meals outside and enjoyed watching all the different wildlife around us. During our trip, we saw a large assortment of wildlife - orcas, seals, an eagle, a heron, an assortment of other birds, lots of jumping fish, a deer, rabbits, and squirrels. The house is spacious and provided room for everyone to spread out. Overall it was an amazing week and we hope to be able to visit there again someday.
Lovely location away from towns. Beautiful beach access and waterway activity. We loved walking the beach. Cozy house is well supplied and comfortable.
Waterfront cottage/cabin simply BEAUTIFUL (and the Christmas tree was a nice touch). Kayak trips in the mornings was very nice. Only 15 minutes from town/groceries, but seems peacefully "away from it all". Very private location. Lots to do on Whidbey Island (hiking etc...). Hosts were VERY quick with communications. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Our family of 4, including two young kids, had a terrific long weekend here! The beach is great and right there, and the house layout is really nice for grownups getting a little distance from kids now and then. We will definitely be back, thanks again!
