"This is a review for a property that we were provided instead of Dar Malika. Supposedly, there was a water leak. But we searched the neighborhood for a door that would look like the one on the picture and couldn't find anything like it.
The replacement was in the same general location so, initially, we did not mind that much. However, as we started using the unit, things turned out much worse.
Cons:
- Significantly smaller
- Seemed older
- Dirty
- Very cold – one small portable heater was provided.
- Wet and often stinky
- Tiny bathroom - a toilet and a shower in one narrow room with very little space around
- Shower curtain was moldy
- Broken toilet paper holder
- No body soap/shower gel, only shampoo provided
- Bread or cookie crumbs under the dining table
- Kitchen ware not clean and no basic stuff like salt/pepper/sugar/paper towels
- Stinky pillows and linens
- Missing a set of towels - when asked for it, a robe and a small towel were left outside the unit. But both were very stinky (wet dog smell) and we could not to use them.
- Sticky bedroom wall
- Finger-width hole all the way through the wall. Perhaps ready for a cable?
The communication with both the owner and the manager was challenging. Manager only spoke/wrote French, the owner used both English and German for WhatsApp messages. Had to use WhatsApp machine translation. Some of our requests (partial refund, body wash) were ignored.
Pros:
- Good location
- Great views from the terrace"
"I visited Mazagan during Ramadan to try their Iftar buffet, and I wanted to share my experience.
I’ve been visiting this hotel since 2009, and it has always been one of my favorite destinations in Morocco. The hotel itself is beautiful, the atmosphere is great, and the staff are truly amazing.. always friendly, polite, and very welcoming. This level of service is something I’ve consistently appreciated over the years.
However, I was quite disappointed with the food this time. Considering that this is a five-star hotel, the Iftar buffet was surprisingly small with very limited variety. In comparison to other five-star hotels, the selection felt quite underwhelming. I have always remembered Mazagan for its incredible breakfast, so this experience was unexpected.
Another point I noticed was the toiletries in the rooms. The shampoo and shower gel were combined in one product, and the quality felt quite poor. It gives the impression that some cost-cutting measures are being implemented, which unfortunately affects the overall luxury experience.
Mazagan is still a beautiful resort and, in my opinion, one of the best hotels in Morocco. But small details like food quality, variety, and room amenities make a big difference, especially for guests who have been visiting for many years.
I truly hope the management takes this feedback into consideration so the hotel can maintain the high standards it has always been known for."
"Absolutely gorgeous Riad. My room was so lovely and looked out on to the beautiful courtyard. Breakfast was an absolute feast each morning. Every staff member was friendly and helpful and did a great job! I spent 6 nights in this wonderful retreat and have zero complaints. There are only 5 rooms/suites, the building is spread out in such a way that i felt i was staying there all alone. If you are looking to escape in a sumptuous atmosphere i cannot recommend a better place to do so.
