it wasn’t what we expected for a 5 star. room cramped. off the highway. not close to beach (photos on orbitz we re deceiving) no porters for luggage. we moved the last night to a four star 15 mins away with far superior amenities right on beach didn’t offer refund for that night. far better options around. don’t be deceived by the stars

We had a good time here, but this property has the potential to be so much more. Location is prime and the views are absolutely stunning. The hotel is definitely dated and ready for a renovation. Rooms and bathrooms are showing their age and so are the beds, linen and towels. Front desk and transportation staff go through the motions and can use refresher customer service training. They seem to be complacent and happy to host tour groups and just do enough to get by.
The shuttle to the beach never seemed to be available. The driver had to go downtown, recharge the golf cart, pick up people, or do something else. The few times we asked, the answer was always negative and there was not even any attempt to apologize for the service not being available in a timely fashion. We drover our car down to the beach next door, but never set foot on the hotel beach.
The restaurant staff was much nicer and helpful. Food variety was very good. Food quality was what you can expect from a hotel buffet. Some good, some bad, none really excellent, but mostly adequate.
The view and the hotel grounds made up for the deficiencies, but management and the ownership group can make lots of improvements and upgrade this property to a much higher level that maximizes its prime location.
Don't forget to visit the Tropea historic center and the beaches. Tropea was supposed to be a pit stop on our trip and became a highlight. It is a beautiful town with friendly people and lovely beaches.

"Nightmare stay...or non stay! Finally arrived after driving along dirt roads for 30 mins trying to find the place. Google maps will take you to a deserted beach. Dragged suitcases 50 yards over rough pavers from gravel parking lot. No pillows in room, trash not emptied and greasy headboard on bed. ..."

"Average hotel, but really nice staff. Location, if you’re looking to stay at torre melissa this is hotel is not in torre Melissa, so when you book make sure you verify, because I made that mistake, there’s 2 Mira mare, one is the beach, the other is the hotel which is in ciro’.."
