We’ve just spent a week at Hôtel Au Relais Saint Maurice, and it was a real highlight of our holiday. The hotel is a beautiful old house, full of character and history stretching back hundreds of years. Maurice, the owner, is absolutely dedicated to the place and to his guests – nothing is too much trouble, and his care shows in every detail. Breakfast was a real treat each morning, with homemade food and an incredible range of choices, all served in the peaceful courtyard or the amazing dining...

We had an absoloutely wonderful two night stay with our toddler at Cave Auger. The upstairs family apartment was perfect for us , and we were particularly grateful for the excellent air con during one of the heatwaves earlier this year. The pool was great - warm and immaculately clean. Stéphane was the most welcoming host - and we particularly enjoyed the dinner on the terrace that was all local produce, and it came with our own little barrel of delicious wine. Loved every minute of our stay, room was big and bathroom clean, pool was a nice touch with the weather being so warm, staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast but I'm sure it was just as amazing as the hotel. Location was closed enough to the centre but not too close.

Chinon is a wonderful place and the Diderot matches it’s surroundings. We go every year and love it.

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was spotless, and the owner was exceptionally polite, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The homemade jams and lavender sachets were thoughtful touches that made our stay even more special. Breakfast was simple yet delicious, with fresh and tasty options. Excellent value for money, no complaints at all. We've paid a lot more for much poorer quality accommodation. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing to stay in a world heritage site! Especially access to the Abbey out of hours was truly memorable. My 5 year old daughter loved it

Superb hotel. Fantastic position by river, in old town below Chateau. Very comfortable room, stylish decor and impeccable service. Lovely big bathroom with picture windows (with curtains...). Great, fresh breakfast, served at your table. Excellent range of Scotch Whiskey too!
